Magic, did Bass then err by not having a readymade pacemaker tearaway type to insure against this scenario??? Maybe he should have included a Blue Tiger?

I think a race BF would like to forget, he must be having sleepless nights since the July. PP was last or 2nd last into the straight...& BF was pushing PP then to better his position but to no avail... had no chance coming into the straight from so far back & a wall of horses in front of him... as most trainers say " as long as we have luck in running " we'll be right there... well PP had NO luck at all in this race.
Had PP been 8L off the pacemaker into the straight... a different result .. PP SH!TS IN.
re run this race 10 times & PP will probably win it 8 / 10. Saturday was NOT HIS DAY.... THAT'S RACING.

It looks like the 3 y.o. might be better than many people thought. Slow run race or not the three 3 y.o's running 1st, 2nd and 3rd must say something about this current batch. Would have loved to have seen how Dan De Lago would have done. Pocket Power clearly beaten by the pace, but that is racing.
Did anyone catch the date trifecta, race run on 04-07-2009. 04 Kapil, 07 Big City Life, 20 Zirconium and 09 Forest Path. Played these numbers in the evening lotto but not the big race. Kapil was not far off making it a 1-2-3-4.

There were 16 other horses in the race who may have got indifferent luck. River Jetez was closer to the front than her brother but also did not pick up as quickly as the front runners at the end of the false rail. Kapil got trapped behind Catmandu and had to check and then started running again at the end of the false rail.
The sprint started sooner than usual at the turn. They normally started to sprint at the end of the false rail but they all started earlier on the bend.
Pocket was too far back and did not pick up quick enough. Its as simple as that. Pocket was pretty much ridden in the same way as Anton Marcus rode Hunting Tower to victory in 2007. Anton a hero that day, Bernard being shot done for a similar ride 2 years later. Comparing the two races HT did start picking up when asked on the turn. PP was asked even earlier than HT but PP waited before he decided to go.
Perhaps he should have tried to get into it earlier, perhaps we all under estimated the strength of the 3 year olds. Who would have guessed that they would have kept on finding up front. The big difference between 2007 and 2009 is that the weights were a lot closer. Its simple the feather weights got in front stayed in front and were not going to stop. After all the top 3 were 3 years old with low weights.
All I can say is that I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Greg Cheyne. What a great person and I am really happy for him.
Pocket Power will bounce back to win again.

The July told us nothing about the strength of the 3 year olds, obviously they'd keep finding up front, they only ran for 400 metres! All it told us that the jocks can play silly buggers with the punters money if they want to.
You'd think one of the jocks (barring the first 3) would have thought hang on, we're crawling like snails, lets go for broke otherwise we're all stuffed.
I've said before I dont buy this no pace crap, if theres no pace make the bloody pace yourself! In american racing, if the pace slows the jocks start making their move futher out as they have the sense to realise they better put foot otherwise they're gone anyway.
Either our jocks are too stupid... or possibly too clever for all us.
This years race has no credibility in my book.
I still believe a talented horse won though but it was handed to him on a plate.
As for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th, laughable really...

Saksy this is where we need Bernard to appear on a Tellycrap Larry King Live and be given the chance to defend himself and explain what he did.
Otherwise we will never know the truth - I would love to hear what Garth Puller thinks - will buzz him in the morning and hear

Butch, Bernard will never come out and admit he had a big punt on BCL!
The race is there for all to see anyway. I've watched the replay many times on Youtube and PP did indeed come out akwardly from the gate and veered outwards. He was lying 4th from last after a few hundred metres and BF dropped him out even further.
It's impossible to say whether BF did all this deliberately, Im not suggesting I think he def did so anyway, all I said was I wouldnt be surprised. It might be a cynical way of looking at things, but thats what years of dodgy stories in this game does to a person. I'll be interested to know what Andewest thinks, he seems to have plenty dirty info.
It's very easy to find an excuse but these jocks are paid proffessionals and snoozing around a track at half pace is inexcusable , this applies not only to BF but to the rest of the field.
Look, it doesnt matter anyway now, its over and there will be other races to be won and lost.
Now on the subject of "Pullers", best I say no more on that one...

both 2nd and 3rd...if the jock's pulled the wip at the 400 and gave 3 or 4 good solid smacks...
forest path would have won by 4 lenghts....
Jockey did not believe he could win...
If Shea was on Forest Path...he would have won by 4 lenghts...he understands...
november last year...RUDRA....
In future...dont back the champions...look for the ...5/16/15 stayers...
3 to 4 races before the big race...
they will run races short of their distance...
they will run them flat and the horses will stop the last 150 meter..to run unplaced..
they will step these races..1400...1600...1800...then 2200 or 2400..
and on the big day....
boom...in the box....
price...long odds...
agree PP is the better horse..
sure PP will win 1800 clairwood later this month....
