Scotia on great horses-update..
15 years 11 months agoGood morning thought it was time for an update of great horse as the list is slightly reduced with my removal of Sariska.
The question is, who is the best horse on the planet?
Rachel, Goldikova, Zenyetta, Sea the Stars not forgetting Stacelita.
If we look at the list, in no particular order
Sea the stars
SEA THE STARS (IRE) : 3 YR OLD COLT (CAPE CROSS - URBAN SEA by MISWAKI)
6 wins from 7 starts after maiden win won a group 2 followed by 4 group ones.
2000 gns, Derby, Eclipse and Juddmonte.
Earnings of GBP 1,645,251.00
Goldikova
GOLDIKOVA (IRE) : 4 YR OLD FILLY (ANABAA - BORN GOLD by BLUSHING GROOM)
9 wins from 13 starts 2 x seconds and a third. after winning group 1 Falmouth at Newmarket
won 2 group ones in France.
Earnings of GBP 1,623,623.00
Zenyatta .
ZENYATTA (USA) 5 YR OLD MARE (STREET CRY - VERTIGINEUX by KRIS)
12 wins from 12 starts, I don't have all the details but I gather all wins are group one and group 2 races?
I had the earnings for the first 10
Earnings of GBP 1,363,043.00,
Stacelita
STACELITA (FR) : 3 YR OLD FILLY (MONSUN - SOIGNEE by DASHING BLADE)
5 wins from 5 starts last 2 were grade ones.
Earnings GBP 621,255.00
Rachel alexandra
RACHEL ALEXANDRA (USA) 3YR OLD FILLY (MEDAGLIA D'OR - LOTTA KIM by ROAR)
Has won 10 of 13 starts with 2 seconds, in her last six runs has won 2 group three's and 4 group ones.
Earnings of GBP 1,696,305.00
Well what more can one say, the ARC and the Breeders Cup meeting to come with a potential match race with Rachel and Zenyatta, the mind boggles?
I would end by saying that in my humble opinion that I cant make my mind up between Sea The Stars and Rachel Alexandra.
Inputs welcome.
Hoping that either Robin Bruss or James Goodman may mention this on the tellytrack shows for the punters and maybe get some views?
good punting!

Great article Scotia, you really are a very passionate man about racing. We need more people like you to get this game back to where it belongs.
For me Sea The Stars is the greatest horse I have seen race in my 25 odd years in racing. He has the stride, temprament and courage to make him one of the all time greats!!!!
For me a good colt will always beat a good filly.
We are spoilt for choice right now and long may it continue!!!

Fame And Glory 9-4 for Breeders' Cup Turf
BLUE SQUARE have installed the Aidan O'Brien-trained Fame And Glory as the 9-4 favourite for the Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita on November 7.
The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby winner's more immediate target is the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes on September 5 when he could clash with four-time Group 1 winner Sea The Stars, who is not quoted in Blue Square's betting.

French raiders Stacelita and Vision D'Etat are 7-1 and 8-1 respectively, while dual Oaks winner Sariska is 20-1.
Blue Square: Fame And Glory 9-4, Conduit 3, Gio Ponti 9-2, Stacelita 7, Vision D'Etat 8, Just As Well 14, Youmzain 14, Solider Of Fortune 16, Cavalryman 16, Sariska 20, Spanish Moon 20, Ask 20, Casual Conquest 25, Midships 25, Battleof Hastings 25, Presious Passion 33, Marsh Side 33, Cima De Triomphe 33, Beheshtam 33, Quijano 33, Einstein 33, Spring House 33, Artisite Royal 33

Oxx still not tempted by Sea The Stars Leger bid
ANY faint hopes that Sea The Stars could be supplementedto the Ladbrokes St Leger were summarily dismissed by trainer John Oxx on Wednesday, despite the final leg of the Triple Crown appearing eminently winnable following the latest forfeit stage.
With only 11 entries remaining for the Doncaster Classic on September 12 - five of which are trained by Aidan O'Brien - Sea The Stars would be a red-hot favourite to become the first Triple Crown winner since Nijinsky in1970, were connections to stump up £45,000 to supplement him.
However, the prospect of a small, possibly substandard field next month has not swayed Oxx, who is categorical the four-time Group 1 winner will not be considered, regardless of whether soft ground at Leopardstown rules him out of the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes a week earlier.
"The St Leger has never been on Sea The Stars's schedule - there is absolutely no chance he will be supplemented," said Oxx.
"We want to run him in the Irish Champion Stakes on September 5, ground permitting. If he doesn't run, there are many other races to consider, including the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, if the ground is suitable."
Kite Wood is Ladbrokes' 5-2 favourite for the race, while the John Dunlop-trained Tactic, runner-up to Godolphin's market leader in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket last month, is a 25-1 chance with them.
Angus Gold, racing manager to Tactic's owner Hamdan Al Maktoum, said on Wednesday: "Mr Dunlop wanted to leave the horse in the St Leger and I will have to discuss whether he takes his chance with the trainer and Sheikh Hamdan.
"I think that his run in the Gordon Stakes was fair but it was a better effort when he was second to Kite Wood at Newmarket. He's a nice horse but he has a bit to find on the form book as things stand.
"It remains to be seen whether an extra two furlongs can turn him into a St Leger winner, but we will decide if we go to Doncaster with him in due course."

Scotia, a possible omission from your list is the unbeaten Hungarian sprinter from 12 starts, Overdose. He missed the big European sprints this year due to a foot injury.
