Ferdy Murphy believes Lucky Nellerie represents his best ever chance of finally hitting the bullseye in Sunday's Velka Pardubicka in the Czech Republic.

The West Witton handler has fired a number of bullets at the stamina sapping contest with Irish Stamp's second place finish in 1996 his best result to date.

Lucky Nellerie warmed up for this year's renewal with fifth place in a Perth handicap chase last month and his trainer is keeping his fingers crossed for a bold show this weekend.

"He's arrived over there and has travelled over fantastic, so we're looking forward to it," said Murphy.

"Our travelling head lass, Helen Donnelly, is out there with him and she has ridden him the last couple of mornings on the track and she says he's in great order.

"We were delighted with his run at Perth where he jumped away nicely. We've had him down at a cross-country course near Catterick and he seems to have taken to it really well.

"It's a race I like to have a runner in as they are lovely people and we have been second in it before with Irish Stamp, so it would be nice to win it one day.

Just in case you struggled with the commentary?

Tiumen wins Velka Pardubicka for Vana

Report: Czech Republic, Sunday

Pardubice: Velka Pardubicka Ceske Pojistovny (Cross-Country Chase) 4m2½f

TIUMEN, trained by Czech racing legend Josef Vana, won the Velka Pardubicka at Pardubice on Sunday.

The win was Vana's seventh Pardubicka victory as a trainer having previously taken the prestigious contest six times as a jockey.

All four British raiders and Ireland's sole representativeIl En Reve finished out of the money with the Graham Smith-trained Super Lord securing the highest position in seventh.

"He ran atremendous race and, now we know he can handle the course, we're keen to come back again," said Smith. "He jumped the first two fences a bit big, which used up more energy than ideal, but he soon settled down and was going on well at the finish.

"We've had a lot fun, he's come back fit and sound, and it's been a great day for everyone involved with the horse."

Charlie Mann saddled the consistent Mr Big and said: "He jumped well and has come back fine, but he ran with the choke out early on and didn't get home as well as some of the locals.

"This is not a race to underestimate and it's hard to beat the Czechs in their own back yard, but we might come back for another crack at it."

Ferdy Murphy said of Lucky Nellerie: "He jumped the first couple of fences a bit too well and that got him tanking along.

"He ran out at the sixth, probably going just a bit to fast for his own good, but he's come back fine, not a bother on him, and I think we might bring him here again next year for another go."
