Eight Street Summer Cup Weight

How will this change after his win in the Victory Moon Stakes today?

I did not get to see the coverage from Turfontein - any comments on the wins by Smart Banker and Eight Street? Charles Laird sure has a lot of firepower for the Summer Cup.

Eight street stayed very well and ran away from them at the line, not sure how much they will put him up in the weights, but his trainer stated the reason he never ran Oracy in the race was to preserve his weight,as he was scared of a further increase if he won..

I've been searching for Pocket Powers MR at age 4 to be able to draw comaprison with Oracy at the same age. Formgrids has at 116 as a 5 year old but nothing before that.

Anton has made many comments on how highly he rates Oracy and even went as far as to say that Soumillon must not get stuck into him too much at last years international Jockey's challenge. It follows that Oracy should be one of the best.

PP has hardly run with less than 58. In fact he only once ran with 53KG in his career.

A comparison should reveal the truth on Oracy and whether the decision not to run him adds weight to my comment that MR is prejudicial to some horses and therefore has to be manipulated by trainers in order to win races

Eight Street gave Rudi Rocks 1 kg more than would have been the case in a handicap and walloped him. Obviously he has earned a sizeable penalty. Smart Banker is another story. Impossible to think WWN ran to form when barely beating Swordsmith so I'll leave that one to the handicappers. Oracy can't complain about a steep rating after Seattle Ice's next effort!

exactly my sentiments magic, smart banker shouldnt get a penalty as even the 2nd horse is not a sprinter and wwn ran well well below his rating

Then forget the Cup and climb into Dan to win the Met off a handy weight.

Thanks for the comments.

I hadn't been looking too far past Oracy for the Summer Cup. The margin of Eight Street's win over Rudi Rocks has now got me thinking (while he is still at a fairly big price). That's why I was wondering what type of penalty he will incur for that win.

Any thoughts on why Dan de Lago has not had any prep run if he is a definite Summer Cup runner at this late stage?

As Magic might be elluding to, perhaps the summer cup is a prep for the Met

Or he isn't going for the Summer Cup at all. Just guessing, though.
