How's those fantastic place payouts?
18/10 = R1.00
2/1 = no dividend, small field
3/1 = R1.10
6/1 = R1.00(!)

Are there still any RA members out there? If so, please request them to investigate this (they do say they are there to 'look after the owners' after all); all this shenanigans are most certainly going to affect tote turnover and therefor stakes.
Why has the RA not said ONE WORD during this whole fiasco?

In the 5th after the off, R25k of late money came in, with R12.7k for No 10 and R9.4k for No 6. No more than R500 for each of the balance.

Just in response to the 2 puppets/muppets on Tellytrack last night.
Sir Attenborough stated they can't deal with all the bets on a real time basis and rely on the co-mingled (mangled) partners to submit summarized/packaged info regarding all the bets.
The question then becomes at what stage of proceedings does all this information from the overseas partners actually arrive in Phumulelas hands i.e. how long after the jump is info received.
Another question is that since the data is summarised, how much manual input is required to collate all the data from both ends, obviously manual tasks increases the chances of manipulation.
Furthermore, as this data is summarised from the overseas end how is it possible for Phumulela to ever check the integrity of the information that has been sent.
It is obvious to all and sundry the technology used is outdated and at least worth a detailed investigation into what is really going on.
It's pretty obvious they are handicapped by a system that just isn't up to scratch, I mean who would take these payouts when the bookies are offering twice the price.
What is all the more worrying is that the 2 clowns on the show last night seemed to be completely out of their depth.
I could only laugh at the analogy of the owner who bet R20k on his horse, I mean anyone with half a brain cell would have had the bet and risked far less than R20k with the bookies to get the same rewards as he got from the tote!

Sasky I think you are misinterpreting what was said. They said that the protocol uses packet data transfers. This is technical speak and Andrewest will be able to fill you in on the type of protocol being used. Granted it is old technology, there is however no summarising of data or manual edits of information. ie packet data has nothing to do with manual intervention, it refers to how data is transferred.
They advised that due to bandwidth restraints packet data cannot be transferred in real time purely due to the volumes of bets which results in large amounts of data. Mr P reffered to amillion transactions, cant see this as being true or the pools would be 6 mill plus per pool.
There is technology available to get around this and Seacom has wholesale bandwidth available for sale. The parties on all sides, according to them, are not prepared to upgrade though.
As to time, it arrives at the host system after up to a minute of the off of a race.
As for the punter who put 20k down, he was just following the RA add and doing his bit for racing.
