Rob...I agree with you and Mr. hawaii's comment of going alone and the "one step at a time thing"...

I also want to assure everyone on this sight that i'm not going just for my own sake but for the sake of all owners and punters feeling the same i do...yes, when i got into racing as an owner about 4 years ago [and i've been afollower since i was 10], the RA and bonusses etc was what attracted me and as anyone is naive as they start out you learn things out of experience [i'm a fast learner] as time goes by...i know of every little issue stated on the forum and others but as i said we need to take one step at a time and my issue i want to raise first is that an operator for the RA with a name [not a body namely RA] gives feedback to all RA members, punters and other walks of life through forums and media alike and not just me and even the meeting held coming Tuesday...I'm glad that my mail finally opened doors. As said before, i'm not the experts on these issues but hopefully this can be the medium so the experts can take over in further discussions in future...

I am happy i received a personal invitition which makes it more official and i'm going for the sake of Horse Racing and as said before...to get constructive feedback, one issue at a time and not to be manipulated, brainwashed or sweet talked...just straight forward answers...

Rad,

I have given up my RA membership a couple of years ago, but I would consider rejoining if I can be convinced that they do actually intend to stand up for owners in discussions with P in matters like the racing program (I think they will tell you that the program is as it is because they only have so much money in the pot - the question then would be what is needed to increase the money in the pot which will no doubt lead to that pesky 'the stakes agreement is confidential' statement).

I also think it would be best not dragging along anyone else at this stage - perhaps rather contact as many as possible of the relevant role players/critics before the meeting in order to have a clearer picture of all the gripes - just a suggestion (use it, don't use it).

Best of luck, I think you are going to need it.

@RAD:

Nope, not yet... got one from Joe Biden (Obama) alright! Says he has had it up to here!

'They drove up record deficits to pass tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.

And now they want to do it again!'

Wonder who's updating him about our racing scenario?

PLEASE make this your 2nd question

WHY CANT phumelela pay for my tellytrack overseas. WHY do they need to charge me for it. WHY cant they see that foreign owners invest in sa OFTEN without ever even getting to see their horses run. Its BOLLOCKS. They should subsidise the dish installation and give is FREE tellytrack for as long as we own horses in SA. Wether it be 1 horse or 20 horses.

@RAD:

I must concede & give credit also to where it's due.

During the Smiley Moosa drama, both M/s Lawrence Kopolo and Tony Winthour met me at P's offices. We had an open, frank, amicable meeting with both gentlemen seeing the greater picture.

However, it seems that the move was shot down when it went to the board.

There are people in both P and RA who are empathising human beings, if not sympathetic!

Frankly this really scares me, I don't know if the RA is simply blowing smoke up the poor PE boys rear ends. Makes very little sense that a synthetic track is viable in that particular climate.You are correct about water being intergral part of "sand" or dirt systems but synthetic track composites require very little moisture. Generally they are made up by sand(dirt)+polymer (plastic)fibre and rubber(optional) scrap and a wax/oil binder. These composites have to be reworked on a constant basis as in warmer climates the wax/oil melting point is constant while the temprature swings cause the binder to melt and the composites compact or in cool tempratures the binder becomes too solid and does not bind properly and the system becomes too "fluffy" and is often carried off by strong wind. Maintance programmes would require heavy watering when the temprature starts to climb beyond the binder melting points......I've been in PE at certain times August-October and tempratures have climbed above 40degee's something called Berg winds.....very little or no water at these times and it's bye bye polytrack.
