Winning Ways MDK

Must say great show, to the point and well worth a watch...........look forward to the second half.
He spoke about working together with the Racing authorities rather "we" than "us and them"
The export of horses, we are probably sitting on a gold mine as far as SA racing is concerned, we just have to manage it and get the quarantines in place
Plus we need a "born leader" with no ties or friends here to get our racing back on track and shake it by the neck, "not a major task" just get back to basics.

It was great to finally hear somebody speaking frankly about what is needed - 'the right people around a table for 5 minutes could solve most problems in SA racing' - will the 'right people' please put your hands up and 'get rid of all the nonsense'.
'Learn from other people around the world' - how simple it seems but in SA we are hard not taking too kindly to advice.
And I think we need to go looking fot that mare........could be that the sky is the limot in terms of yearling prices in th future, if all the export regualtions can be sorted out(tu)

One of the biggest issues that he touched on in my view; was free nomintions being detrimenal to SA Racing. James Goodman tackled him on this issue saying that some may say that this woulld suite larger trainers. He disagreed noting overseas method; where a horse does not make the final field he will have prefernce at the next round therefore guaranteeing a run next time out. Quite unlike the situation in SA where 120+ are nominated (free) and never make a field or repeatedly receive crap draws. As a result the lifespand of a colour holder is shortening.
He felt that we should look to Hong Kong etc at their models tweak and apply to SA.
He was in favour of a strong leader who should come in, not be briefed and dictate a path for racing free of influence from current racing "personalities". (I wonder if MDK has anyone in mind). The current lot will not go without a fight!
He also echoed a sentiment which I have posted on this site before. EGO's are racings biggest threat.
Good show and great to see MDK's passion for his country.

MDK rationalized the challenges, and gave pragmatic solutions.
Question :
Why don't the RA initiate a TRANSFORMATION programme (appoint a Programme Manager) with Phases, time tables, resource names, dependencies and take accountability and responsibility for the execution of the TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMME.
surely the concepts the man viewed can be implemented within 12 months ?
I fail to understand why mature men like the RA team has not initiated a TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMME (like all other industries had to do).

how is the RA going to initiate and manage a change programme for the industry Andre? the body with the smallest membership (30% as previously posted)...? They are going to pitt themselves against Phum, and Gold Circus - and call the shots? lol, come on!
