I posted this on the Forum "2008" and time flies, Smiley has been to court/hearings/changed judges and is still just looking for another chance in life.

SMILEY "GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE"
Posted by: scotia ()
Date: March 11, 2008 11:16AM
I read an article the other day in the "Daily Sun" by Ronny Madikane, and tried to get an email copy, but here is the highlights.
Smiley Moosa, a legend to many punters has been given a chance to further his career as a racehorse commentator.
Moosa fell ill in 2000 and was only able to try and find work again in 2003, when he had fully recovered.
He has had a hard time trying to get back into the game he loves after his 3 year absence.
He has kept knocking on doors and a few weeks ago Phumelela granted him permission to call a meeting at Borrowdale.
He started commentating on 26th Sept 1988 at Newmarket and in 1996 he was the official commentator at Bloemfontien.
He is remembered by many for spreading the gospel of horseracing to the non-white community and gained popularity through visiting the Tab agencies, Scotia remembers his visit to Bosman Street in the "good old days".
Paul Rugg the man in charge in Zim had high praise for his work and I quote " I am sure with more opportunities behind the mic he will return to his absolute best, he is certainly of the best callers in Southern Africa".
Note! on the back of this I would like us to support a comeback for Smiley, I am not interested in the past or any detail on what may have happened, imvho, I see the situation as follows.
We have lost Hawkeye, Clyde has a big job on his hands, Shaheen will improve with practice, but we have a chap who loves the game and is desperate for another chance and I feel we should give him this opportunity.
In addition, it will give Clyde a chance to socialise on Saturdays visiting tables and listen to the RA members, including a visit to the ABC lads, to listen to all our SHIT! [ what a bonus ].

Personally i've never heard Smiley's commentary but i see a guy a who wants to be given an opportunity to make a living doing what he loves and he's good at it, is it really that hard for someone to give this guy a chance??????? (we've all been given a second chance in one way or the other)

Umlilo,
It's time many white S Africans also removed their 'coloured' blinkers!
Why did Larry take Peter Naidoo (an Indian, albeit, sellout black!) with; not a racist presentation making all the hulllaboo about transformation?
We need to distinguish and put the white S African in categories..
Allow me to explain..
White South Africans excludes the pommies, any member from USA, EU, AUS, NZ..
We then are left with the following in RSA.. coming from the 1950's....
the Broeder Bond....ran the Government, Town councils and made deals with the jews (because the "boertjies" were not too clever?)
The Jews...got authority from the broeder bond to run the economy (mining, industries etc)...on a free for all basis...
Also the racing industry..by mid 1980's they jews decided who could get a license to stand on the course...lol..
they even #$%^&* their own mate Clive Dunbar a few times...
He only got a license after the 4th attempt...
they #$%^&* even their own kind...greed..
the rest of us...the idiots...according to the previous government...had to be soldiers (army or jail)..we were dispensable.. a dime a dozen
we had to do the "worker jobs"...only broeder bond children got bursaries from the government, town councils etc..
So we worked, fought in the army (or could go to jail and become a girlfriend), while the others enriched themselves..their children did not go to the border to fight...they got office jobs as 2 pip officers in PTA...slept at home...
Our promise..we (white males aged around +50 now in 2010) will hold the executive positions in the economy..
We build the banks, the stock exchange, the economy... or rewards were to be a good retirement (executive position from aged 50) with share incentives, annual bonuses and a fat pension payout at 63...
But by the time we were 40 (2000)... they told us to @#$%^&*()_ off..
Infact in 1993 FW de Klerk said...he negotiated a 8 year period with the ANC...so if you wanted to leave..you had 8 years to sell up, and !@#$%^&*( out of the country...
The jews ducked to Israel... or at least moved their stockpiles to Antwerp, and the monies offshore..
got fined a $1b (think is was $18.6b they moved) which the government lent to Robert in 2000...when is he going to repay it..
The Broeder bond got passports or moved to the UK, AUS... GBP 800K and you could go to the UK, CANADA or AUS
The idiot "boertjies" could not go anywhere....no passports... not even AFRICA wanted them, and still don't want them.
The promise of a GOOD position at 50 (2010) had been a lie... AA and BEE stipulates no WHITE MALE OVER 45 to be employed.
Ask the banks, the town councils, the government.
So for you and Smiley to feel done in... well many a "boertjie" knows exactly how you feel..nobody in RSA wants them.. not even the wife.. (could be a blessing... LOL)
There is good that has come from this injustice..
We are now smarter than them.. and they cannot buy us.. and they cannot manipulate us..
I know, many a minister son or daughter went to school with me..most are either bankrupt or disillusioned as they cannot get money for free....
The EU wants our skills...
SO get your CV ready, post it on WWW.JOBSERVE.CO.UK and go and explore the world..
There is nothing left here to scheme, steal, or build on... all destroyed by greed..
so let go of the lot, let them carry on... en route to nowhere..

@andrewest:
Lol! That's the spirit! Why is there always such seri-yars-ness when this 'race' thing is raised/referred to?
Makes 2 of us (I've also got some "boertjie" traces in me)!
'I know, many a minister son or daughter went to school with me..' and nobody in RSA wants them.. not even the wife'!
Why didn't ya zap one of the minsiter's daughters and showed them how to get the money ..... for free? And still have it?
Just take the goose that lays the golden egg.... home!

@perpetual:
You are right, but grossly insensitive to a fellow human being.
Forget all the side show issues (race card, top 3 , etc).
I hold no brief for Smiley and am prepared to call him to book; he should not have posted /written what he did on this forum!
Like all of us, he has his faults (in commentating). I did mention in one of my posts, perhaps Smiley should be guided/mentored/ schooled on (not how to commentate) on what not to say!
But then, we put up with diffrent packages when it comes to others, so why flay him so mercilessly?
My problem is: there are some who have no regard/respect for the plight of fellow human beings. The man is desperately passionate about commentating (albeit, even in need of a job).
Is this how humans behave & react (no matter your colour), to one another by kicking him when he's down? I haven't read such insenstive comments about Nico (however, I do concede that other whites have not received such attention or favours in worse circumstances, such as jocks)!
With such attitudes, it's time horseracing was banned entirely in this country and horses slaughtered and given to the blacks in Soweto...exactly as one senior Phumelela official remarked!
