Thor

Sa racing has 1000 jobs ( example)
And 150 workers ( example)

Same people multiple jobs, same people all part of the click
Its sickening
No new blood
If basel is in charge of media why does he still commentate , do one or the other therefore letting in new blood and thoughts

You have learnt nothing from the wise words of Nelson Mandela.

Smiley Moosa the best commentator in S.A. by far yet no opportunity form him to get back behind the binoculars.:S

Something still smells rotten in the land.

P.S. The Hawkeye crossed the floor and joined the opposition, he was also responsible for denying SM his position.(td)

The day before the 2003 Summer Cup I overheard Nico and Big Rod have a discussion about how unfair Graeme Hawkins was by electing to do the commentary for that year's Summer Cup whereas Clyde had been the regular highveld racecaller. For the past 2 or 3 years Clyde has become a celebrity commentator, only commentating the main races, while his 2 gabbas have moved up in the ranks.

Smiley is out of order and always looks for sympathy. At the totes in PTA one must always hear him bragging about how he reported Graeme to the public protector. In a close finish before the replay he always wants to tell you how the other horse won by a mile. He's never ever wrong because he was the best commentator, played the best soccer an d was the best in everything he done.

God's give to this earth.

BTW I don't approve of the manner in which he was dismissed.

Clyde is different class. If you only listening to the commentary he paints the pic as though you watching..

We are fortunate to have always had commentator's out the top drawer in this country, from Ernie and Peter Duffield to the Denman brothers, Craig "Eagle Eye" Peters, Clyde Basel etc but be assured that in time to come the name Alistair Cohen will be spoken about in the same breath as all these greats, his ability belies his age and experience,(we tend to overlook how new he actually is to the industry), he is an absolute natural who has taken to race calling and TV presenting like a duck to water, the most promising prospect that I have seen/heard in my racing career ..an asset to the industry and a bright future awaits him...
Give everything but up!

One thing I've noticed with SA. commentators is they get so excited that they start to shout and you cannot hear a word they are saying . Just listen how good the Pommies are !!

Never heard of Smiley Moosa , Its sad that in SA theirs a culture of entitlement .

dont know why he isnt just given a chance to call again.he was very good in his day.

racing industry hasnt got the leaders which it desperately needs...we have just had the passing of the greatest leader and statesman of modern times and you would think the industry would apply some his skills but sadly they wont and it will continue to harbour grudges and put people into positions that they not qualified to do and mediocrity shall prevail...after all these years surely time to bury the hatchet with smileyand move on
