I think he will carry 58kg's Tommy , so he is not well weighted .

I agree with Mathew same exacta as the queens plate .

Mother russia will carry 57.5kg's and Tales of bravery will carry 57.5 kg's .

Flirtation will carry 57 kg threrefor Mother russia has her held .

The 3yo colts will carry 52kg's they could be the dangers .

Mother russia has a 2kg pull on Perana on their last meeting .

So then the weights are no longer MR and are WFA?

I think I remember this from somewhere way back but I have been staring blindly into PP for the last 4 years so that's why I had no idea ;)

If he carries 57kg's it would be hard for him to be competitive off his current mark. I guess the high MR horsies then have the edge?

The Met conditions have changed a good deal in the past couple of years. No longer does it favour the "nearly" horses like La Fabulous, Angus, Polo Classic, or Divine Master. Which is rather a pity, trying to spot the "right" Met horse months in advance was great fun and I had much more success with the Met than the July. Under the old system I'd like Tales Of Bravery to just about win it, but as things stand Mother Russia should beat him again.

Thanks a million Ant,

If the weights stay this way perhaps the 1 to be with is Run for it?

No Tommy .

If Mother russia doesn't win the met then you could be right Tommy . However i do prefer Perana to run for it .

You will recall the other day When Team Valor nominated Ebony Fler For "just in case" in the paddock stakes . Well Mdk has not entered Perana for the Derby so it seems he will 99% accept to run in the met . Strange i would have thought he would keep both options open ? Hence Perana a big runner should Mother Russia fail.

Personally i would like Mother Russia to win as i have a bunch of doubles and trebles on to her . NOT ON THE TOTE THAT IS !!

I believe you are probably right with Mother Russia and I hope she wins for you, but here are my reservations:

She will most probably be carrying 2nd top weight (I stand to be corrected) and I believe she may be a little suspect over a hard run 2000m (again just spit balling here)
I think horses will be running at her over the final 200m and I think that the weight may be a deciding factor? Perhaps a lower weighted horse like Run for It?

this next statement is once again ONLY MY OPINION........I don't fancy Perana at all. I just don't think he is quite as classy as his Victory Moon win got everybody to believe......I'm probably horribly wrong, but I would prefer to see him win another big one before I give comment.

Surely Tales of Bravery must have a decent chance of turning the tables in the Met with Mother Russia with a 2.5 kg pull in the weights.

At 10-1 he may be worth chancing...
