@louisG:

'Therefore, Umlilo, in my books, that makes YOU the racist here ! '

I respected you, louisg, until this concatenation of rantings from you which border on the imbecile and is a personal vendetta!

Why don't you expose that top jockey who allegedly referred to a trainer (in the presence of witnesses) as a 'white k...'? Why was it shoved under the carpet?

So, it's only Umlilo that is a 'racist'? Umlilo has the balls to say it as it is....YOU and your ilk?

How many others are within your own circle?

Answer WBM's question and add:

Will you encourage YOUR grooms to join a Union? Yes or no?

@ umlilo...... fortunatly i dont own horses.... but if i did yes i would encourage grooms to join AN OFFICIAL UNION.... not some scam union to benefit one person!!!

@wbm:

That scam union is an assumption and a red herring!

From what I know, it would have had to to be a branch of SACCAWU (an official union), in turn, part of COSATU.

An association of grooms is another matter!

We have been calling for a Punters' Association, have other associations (questionable?), so, what with a grooms association?

@ Umlilo, I differ

Facts - this thread, as printed

1)First 10 poats, including your first on this thread - No race, colour or creed mentioned.
2)Then Don posts John Freeman's report. The report is not Racist. It simply defends a lot of hard work and principles, based upon false allegations made. It reports on the actual allegations, but does not name the race of the people concerned.
3)And then you start with "white is president of a black groom's school" etc etc.

So, you have a problem with whites, the white race. What is the definition, then, of Racism ? By your own writings, a black must run a black groom's school. A white must not. I ask again - What is the definition of Racism ?

And until I personally write or do anything racist, I am not one. And you might be well served to come and find out first hand, from my grooms, exactly how they are treated, paid etc. It may just be an eye opener for you. Any disageements aside, you are most welcome, anytime!

My point is that the race card will not solve anything at all. Only genuine effort and input from fair minded people. The fundamental principle of Racing remains that Owners are not obliged to keep horses and they are free to come and go, whenever they please in Racing. From the outset, they know that Racing owes them nothing but they take their chances, nevertheless. Likewise, Trainers have absolutely no guarantees. No horses for free, no guaranteed support or results etc. It's a tough, competitive game.

Also, just as there are many extremely wealthy people in our society who will never be interested in Racing, there are those that are. The cost of keeping a racehorse is very high. No matter what we do or say, that cannot change. Somebody has to pay for that horse's keep. Nothing is for nothing. No "free rides". Very few ever make a profit through racehorse Ownership, just as with Showjumping, Motor Sports, Yachting, Private pilots, Polo, Deep Sea Angling etc. To these participants, these are their hobbies. These simple facts apply, here and globally.
