Thought the idea of a log was for 20 horses to run in the met..

I can smell another Cape crawl

Hold on though.. although it would appear ''race over'', the Met has a history of big outsiders winning.. i am not knocking Igugu..she is a superb mare but i am worried about the effects of the small infection. But i would love to see her win.

Makes for a really interesting race..and remember these so called no hopers..

Polo Classic, Alastor, Bunter Barlow, Fearless Streaker.

and of course there is the famous cape crawl which maes for a lot of scrimmaging and horses getting cut into .... some luck in running is also required.

Dalakhani,

Those horses that you mention all won in an era when the weight structure was different.

The conditions for the Met were changed for the year when Pocket Power won his 2nd Met,and it now suits the best horses much more as they have to give away far less weight than they used to have to.

Igugu looks extremely tough to beat in this field under the current weight conditions. The lack of a prep run is concerning, but she really has everything in her favour.Speed, stamina and acceleration are all part of her arsenal.I actually hopes she draws wide as that is likely to put people off,and then I can press!

I agree with Hibs.

This is a horse trained by De Kock ridden by Delpech who has natural speed. She stays 2450,she can go on any given ground on the day and has led in her races on many previous occassions.Going through the field she is the obvious horse to lead, and as Hibs says I think she will go at a decent, sensible pace to suit her own strengths.De Kock will not make the mistake of letting the pace beat her,so unless something happens out the pens she is almost certain to lead imo.
