Maybe that was to even out the 1st mistake. Too many mistakes by refs especially in this day and age.

I think the tmo must have more 'power'. One positive is that the Super 15 ref's are being monitored/analysed after every game on a point system and if they under-perform, they are removed from the panel

Unskilled - Maybe but not always. Depends which particular skill you are seeking.

Simpletons - Regrettably in this instance you are way off the mark. The core of the global rugby playing population is rooted in universities. Which is not the preferred habitat of simpletons.

If you feel that the material which comes out of universities is of the 'simpleton' variety then I would immediately desist from debating the matter with you as I think you were a little uninformed on this matter.

Possibly a more interesting comparison between the two codes is to compare the behaviour when players are either carded or disagree with a call.

In the case of association football viewers often have to endure an apoplectic, uncontrolled outpouring of rage and dissent. Result? No change in the decision! Yet they never fail to repeat the process; which has often stemmed from a blatant attempt at cheating in the first instance. Clearly a sign of a superior, skilled intellect which learns from previous expereience......not.

In rugby - with few - exceptions - the decision is accepted and we move on. That must be the simpleton part kicking in! Lol.

Well said Garrick.......( I hope Pirates is just joking :D) because 90% of all pro soccer players are actors. Like watching a sircus:)o

Garrick is spot on. Would like to have a small bet that the average IQ of your rugby player is higher than your football player either here or in UK.(probably the world too)

For sure, I was a soccer player myself but thought Ou would have been a rugby man?
Until I seen that he used to go to the "sircus" ;)

Use to go watch Cape Town City years ago at Hartleyvale. Love any sport, rugby no 1 for me, also like soccer, but some teams over do it faking injuries to get the penalty which i find annoying.

Don't they say rugby is a rough game played by gents and football is a soft game played by rough people? Or something along these lines.

BLUES vs SHARKS

The Blues gave a pretty graphic demonstration as to why they languish at the bottom of the log. Handling errors (!), poor decisions and a preference for taking really unnecessary risks gifted the Sharks a match which the Blues could so easily have won.

Nevertheless it made for entertaining viewing but simply confirmed that even the winning side looks to be an improbable winner of the Super 15 competition.

WESTERN FORCE vs WARATAHS

The Waratahs got up to beat the Force in an entertaining match in Perth.

Inasmuch as the match was a pleasant way to kill off two hours it did nothing to suggest that either of these two sides will threaten the trophy in the remainder of the season.

CRUSADERS vs STORMERS

An excellent match of rugby between two top teams finally went the way of the Crusaders.

The Stormers have nothing to be ashamed of – having been only lightly affected by injuries this season they permanently lost two locks in the first 20 minutes as well as their flyhalf for a major portion of the first half.

Their younger players then stepped up and slugged it out for the full 80 against a side that still falls well short of looking like a champion-in-waiting team. In previous seasons the Crusaders would have put 30 points between themselves and the opposition once the injuries, penalties and yellow cards kicked in.

Clearly South African sides – as demonstrated by the Stormers in this event – seem less inclined to tamely capitulate once they fall behind these days. Particularly impressive was the visitors’ determined effort to ( successfully ) chisel out a bonus point well after the final hooter had sounded. So a bonus point loss to the supposedly leading NZ team away from home can be taken as an acceptable, albeit disappointing, result.

BRUMBIES vs REBELS

The Brumbies had put this match to bed after 20 minutes in the first half. The remainder of the match was pretty ordinary.

Neither side looks likely to threaten although the Brumbies remain contenders to top their conference for the playoffs.
CHEETAHS vs CHIEFS

The Chiefs once again sounded a warning as to their valid Super 15 claims.

The Cheetahs courageously battled on to claim the loser’s bonus point and ensure they stay well clear of the drop zone.

One gained the impression that the home side could have won this match had they been able to start with Johan Goosen rather than bring him on in the second half. Unfortunately his shoulder injury precluded them from doing so.

LIONS vs BULLS

The Lions remain the only South African franchise who are an embarrassment to watch.

It’s rapidly becoming a waste of two hours of the remainder of my life to follow them. Bury them and bring on the Kings in whatever shape or form. The Lions really do not deserve to be in this competition.

The Bulls played adequately, banked their five points and went home.

Gregbucks & Frodo are gonna hate you:D

I agree, there is no depth, they are trying, but hopefully, they surprise a few teams? This competition is not easy to predict

Regarding the Lions, I have to agree with Garrick - they were very poor and don't look like the same team who ran the Stormers close a couple of weeks ago - really poor in the line-outs where injuries have really hurt them - but also got the impression that all is not well in the camp

The NZ sides imo are a class above the others and I predict a Chiefs vs Crusaders final
