Craig, this attitude may not be so good in the long run.
Drier, for example, ran Sarasini (79), Happy Heart (79), Woza Friday (won Mdn), Bambina Stripes (Mdn) etc etc. According to your motion, the same deal would not allow Drier to bring these to CT, a centre with far less races and money than KZN.
Making different strokes for different folks can only produce a friction that will cause heat. Satellite yards will then have different rules apply to them as opposed to their neighbors back home?
The other aspect is that horses will have to raid rather than be part of a string. The economics of that make travelling horses to KZN much more difficult, and you will in effect be strangling the number of horses that can go to KZN, it has to affect the quality of your racing. The quality of our racing is the biggest single failing to grow the sport, and you are making active steps to do just that.
As it is, 2 of the 3 provinces are hoping for a decline in KZN racing just to prove a point. A parochial attitude and protectionism can never make racing stronger in any way that I can think of, do you really think these rules will play out for the best of anything?

yes you are right MR EUDEY they are natal trainers, i forget as they were jhb boys wen i started punting many yrs ago.mdk 1 of most improved trainers on planet because i remember wen he was useless and was always fined for doping.i remember he was warned off for life if caught again, but lucky for us saffers he was never caught again and put sa racing on international map.the man is an absolute genius to get a son of lizard island to almost win richest race on planet,to get probably the only son of russian revival(imbongi) to win feature races and to beat dynasty with domino man in cape guineas.only negetive doesnt train sprint champions, but hey the man is a living legend and probably best since the mighty t millard.
c laird well i never really rated him as top class but hey we all hv our own opinions and thats wat makes this such an exciting game.he did train a july winner tho, so he couldnt be as bad as i thort he was.
oh i forgot gvz stable who is fast becoming a force in natal and jhb.
i apolagise to natal trainers who with the mighty mdk in there camp are far better than wat i thought.

The more things change the more they remain the same.
Kwazulu-Natal has a long and shameful record for this type of treatment. And it's not only in small races either!
They barred William Penn from the July in the year he had run 4th in the Met. He subsequently ran that year's July winner In Full Flight to a short head a few weeks later in the Champions Stakes. Clearly not too good.
They eliminated Millard's Castle Walk from the July in the year that he won the Natal Derby. A month later he came out and won the Gold Cup. Clearly very sub standard.
They eliminated James Goodman's Gold Tax. A few weeks later he won the Mainstay (?) at Clairwood.
I am sure there are many others but these are just three that spring to mind at the higher level.
In the meantime they have nurtured the centre into the leading jurisdiction for mediocrity. Without apology I can confidently label the vast majority of trainers in the centre as ordinary. And I'm being generous. I often wonder if there is much difference between Durban and PE in terms of ability - both human and equine.
The only bright light for the area is that they appear to have substantial 'betting fodder' - ie a large body of people endlessly prepared to bet on the rubbish that plies its trade there despite the inevitable rough results that this soup meat racing produces.

I seem to be defending Gold Circle the whole time. Anyway Winzip tell me why it seems that so many trainers want to move here? besides Mike and Charles and a few others at Clairwood we also apparently have Mike Azzie saying he would like to move here. Basil Marcus also wanted but weare absolutely packed to the brim with horses. Why do they want to or have moved to this so called useless racing area. GC must be doing something right. Garrick they also left Jungle earl out of the original field for the Woolavington and he got in with a scratching and won. That was 4 mistakes made by a handicapping board in 40 yrs and not Gold Circl's fault, I am confident we are going in the right direction here with the board that we have now. One thing I do know is they are working extremely hard to get things right for Natal racing and owners. I cant ask more.

Racing is indeed strange?
We have many complaints on other threads where racing is in a bad way stakes low and upkeep high however the shortages of boxes is a major concern, the mighty Snaiths have been struggling for months to get something up North.

Hi Craig. The whole point is that YOU have to defend GC which is an example of how things stay the same.
You are a decent man, I know from personal experience, but even your attitude to use an arbitrary rule like no MR

JD we cannot even get boxes in CT and Jhb let alone take bad horses down there. We have a few boxes for them kept for the season for their good horses not just horses to make up the numbers. There are enough maidens here that we will very seldom need outside horses to fill those races without outside horses to be accepted. Kevin Wright nearly lost a owner a few weeks ago because his horse was eliminated and there were 3 horses from CT and Jhb that got in. They had CT and Jhb based owners that do not normally support Natal racing. We dont need to loose more owners in this game. He is not the only owner that was annoyed.
