i ask the question again when the nhra the ruling body of racing in SOUTH AFRICA grants owners colours and a trainer a training license they are allowed to train and race horses wherever they wish so surely the racing clubs have to obey these rules and a horse that has a higher mr should have preferance than one with a lower mr wherever the race meeting is held

We've been down this road before in years past, and I'm sure Pirates in particular will remember a Cape Town maiden that was trained by Eileen Bestel back in around 1989...:D It doesn't take much to find a way around this sort of thing, and at the risk of being as unpopular as a suicide bomber on an airplane I agree with Pirates on this topic.

If visiting trainer A has been allocated X number of boxes, why not let him/her decide which horses to bring to Durban? I don't think a trainer with any sense is going to leave a Gr 1 prospect at home to make space for a merit rated 78 handicapper.

Magic was that maiden in '89 not involved in a accident on the way back to Capetown to his "new" trainer after the natal season?

Delectible(sic) Day. Yes, he was killed on the way back to Cape Town with the rest of Terrance Millard's(OOPS!!!) horses. The July winner Right Prerogative was injured in the same crash, but survived (if I recall correctly).

delectable day...yes he was killed in that tragic accident..she begged tm to leave him in dbn and his rating would be where he wanted it when tm came back the following year ...i see in some inserts felix says one of the best he ever rode...one envious green natal trainer from summerveld even sent the stipes out in the evening to check which yard the horse was in..iv spoken to a few cape trainers and because of the harsh cape winter they like to bring their better maidens to natal unraced or raced and if the unraced come to hand they give them a run or two eg dynasty ..horses like dynasty divine jet delectable day definitly liven up the natal season

nhra are a useless bunch who dont police anything in this game,no wonder game is such a poor state.reason top jhb stables move to natal is because who in right mind wants to live in jhb.lol.they cant move to cape because it will be tough to win in cape and they can get away with murder in natal because of the soupmeat trainers in natal.so natal trainers hv adopted a laager mentality which i respect because most of the trainers will not win a race there in the season with the top cape boys in town.the way things are looking now i cant see a future for this game with authorities pressing self destruct button.it might be looking healthy now but the way punters are being treated, it wont be long b4 punters find other avenues to feed their gambling addictions.wen that happens then we c how healthy it looks.natal trainers cant see the bigger picture and while it might make them win an extra race or two in the season ,in the long run they are slowly contributing to their own downfall.

Not even going to lower myself to comment on winzip because the only reason he would write that is if he is stupid or trying to wind the Natal trainers up so will not comment on anything written by him from now on. I cannot seem to get it through to some posters that NO ONE is stopping them bringing them. It might just be a little harder to get a run at the expense of a Natal based trainer and a Natal supporting owner.

A Natal trainer I can understand, but as a one-time wannabe lawyer I'm curious about how one would define a "Natal supporting owner." There could be a big can of worms waiting to be opened right there, in my humble semi-qualified opinion.:P

Magic that owner is still supporting the Natal trainer so the trainer part is the part that will count.

Then the "owner" part becomes redundant if it's only about the trainer. Why not simplify it?

I see what you are getting at. It still helps the owner who is supporting the Natal based trainer but we going in circles.
