Awesome ......

Now how are you going to get rid of the old guard and replace with the new?

How are you going to employ people from outside? Advertise in the star or citizen or ask hawkins?

step 1 fire
step 2 identify
step 3 hire

i predict nothing will change......"the greater" good will be drummed into you.

No offence BUT when Obama took office he did so with all the correct and proper ideals and intetions. Even he eventually was told about the "greater good" now even though he is nothing like bush he is still under control.

ABC/Freeracer/Scottfreeracingwebsite/Sportingpost ALL have/had lunatics and stupid proposals BUT also ALL had some pretty common sense industry saving ideas YET nothing EVER happens.

ABC is the least controvercial and the only one standing now YET even this website lacks the respect from the industry that it deserves. I personally dont agree with everything scotia or hibs type BUT some of it does make sense and surely the "industry" should embrace them/us.

So sadly no pm or email needed. Your intetions will start off good BUT in the corridors of sa racing you will be nudged into a different path.

South Africans are the most optimistic people in the world -we have to be!

In terms of the industry debate we now really do have our backs against the wall - and I think there is a real will to find workable solutions. Industries do go sour and need new thinking and solutions and I am going to make the seemingly impossible happen!

It's not about the dog in the fight, but the fight in the dog.....give me a year and I will have made large strides in bringing racing bodies closer together to improve the overall racing experience.

I will use this forum to get sensible ideas and positive constructive critisim - it has a real place in communication in our industry and I assure you certain racing bodies will follow suit if it spews great ideas not total garbage!

Be part of the solution not the problem is my motto!

Happy racing

Well said Tom......but like I said on the other thread......this ought to be interesting......for a time we also had the RA similarly engaging here.....let us see if you can last as long as they did 1st, then you can aim for the 1 year marker... If you get what you are aiming for, they going to name races or even race courses after you....

Easy, and fellow ABC clan - if we all heave together, perhaps the wagon can move forward this time and Tom can help facilitate this.

No point in Tom to be doing the SWOT/5Forces/PESTLE on his own!!

Tom perhaps you can create on this forum a new thread for each facet of the industry and ask under each banner for bugbears or compliments to be added on the forum - many subjects have been discussed here but it may save you time to ask everyone to participate again with an update, if anyone has a better suggestion or format please say so:

i.e. in order of the lifespan of the horse so each progressive level can be examined:
1. breeding
2. sales
3. training
4. racing
5. retirement

and then in order of participants so each role can be examined:
1. breeders
2. owners
3. punters
4. fans
5. service providers - jocks, trainers, sales companies, policing bodies, support bodies such as the RA, racing bodies - Phum+GC

from this you can work out where the pockets of demand are and which areas have most impact on the others so you can focus your attention and efforts. AS a newbie, I suggest you visit those who have proposed plans to the industry in the long past so you don't repeat old hat ideas unless they are still valid - but I am sure you are organising meetings already.

don,

that is correct and we all wish our tom the best.

But later this year circa december time when its time for the xmas parties tom wont be invited to join ou boet/larry/joey/other joey/seansy/veesie if he rock the boat to much.......then when he stands alone the proof will be in the pudding.

until then mazeltoff

Tom quotes "be part of the solution not part of the problem" how will that hold water when he is offered a share or 2 in a horse trained by joey, bred by ou boet , in partnership with veesie and lally?

Then he is either part of the click or part of the lunatics

time willl show that the latter is 2nd fav

Hahaha you guys crack me up!

Let's heave the wagon together as Don says - if we all push in the scrum it goes forward!

And I will not muddy the waters re getting involved with the wrong combinations of people......I have no baggage and will keep it that way.

I have always admired the thoroughbred as an amimal that trancends human weakness's and who can make us feel super human and I am on a crusade to make this industry work so our children can benefit from it.

The first day I ever rode a horse makes me gratetful for the enjoyment they have given me and I will repay them for what they have done for me.

Don

I like your pragmatic approach but in the interest of time I would prefer getting things thrown at me for now and then will present to relevant bodies as I go.

This industry needs solutions and ideas and getting to know the issues from the ground is the only way for us to truly answer these issues.

Keep up the communication please

We have a search facility on this site that goes back 5 years, however just to start

Tote: the way it treats their customer or ignores them on erratic payouts compared with bookmakers, the open bet is a threat and the tote causes more damage to itself than any other force by having poor customer relationship and service

Tellytrack:: over load of poor overseas racing, Ngong, Sweden, Turkey etc this looses focus on the local product and clearly sends the message that it costs nothing to show them and no upkeep and we can see with the closing of our local tracks that this is the mission to cut costs local and replace with poor overseas replacements
