Scotia I think we may be reaching here for young Tom, he works for (sort of) TBA and not TAB....the man has a mountain to climb and yes betting and media have a role to play, but asking this chap to check threads on wagering issues, rather than sort out what he has been hired to do sort of side tracks him. Let us not bury this fellow wth these issues yet and assist him in finding matters that have something to do with the task at hand.

Fair point Muhtiman however looking at the big picture and taking the blinkers off, Tom wants to sell horses to the local Market ( plus overseas) and the support system required is working in the opposite direction ie to shrink racetracks and in so doing having a less need for horses.
In addition the poor service leads to less money in the tote kitty to feed the local industry.

I have never met Tom and don't expect him to resolve these issues but happy he passes them on to the powers that be and I would like him to have the background of the punters frustrations as they will indirectly have pressure on his own mission.

Tom as I said there are some good people in racing but they cannot and will not change the industry to be better..many owners would get out tomorrow if they could..but then the unemployment would rocket..owners and punters keep it alive and unfortunately those are the two groups who get shafted everyday!

I am not a breeder, owner, trainer, activist, jockey or administrator. I used to be an avid punter. Some 25 years ago I started to "push" for sectional timing to be implemented. For many years the promise was always; "soon". Mind you, this is not some out of this world, super expensive thing. The USA have had it for over 60 years!!! I am now a rugby punter by and large and I have all the info I need to make an informed decision. I do not have to beg for basic information(like sectional timing which is as basic as it gets). I do not have to go to a seedy tote and be treated with disrespect. I do not have to bet to a book of 130 to 150%. I do not have to drive to some corner cafe 5 or 6 times to obtain an error filled Computaform only to be told by the owner that "they did not deliver this week" or "they only sent 4 copies and they have sold out" . For a serious punter information is EVERYTHING. Let me rephrase that: CORRECT INFORMATION IS EVERYTHING. Give me sectional timing and you will have my attention in a flash. Untill then, I've got all the information i need for this weekend's Super 15 games and I'm betting to a book of anywhere between 98 and 108%

@ homepunt

BUT do you have boetie? do you have the pleasure of seeing R1m rand horses running in kimberley? DO you have the pleasure of objections being upheld in one week and let go in the next? do you have the pleasure of an association serving itself and nots its members?

Come on now its NOT a fair comparison , racing is in the best state it has ever been. Leave us alone and stick to sports betting.....;)
