Titch, is it a 2 horse race Marcus and Lerena. Delpech has not been to PE for months now and is not going to JHB this week. Is he the first to throw in the towel ?
Lerena will win it if neither Marcus nor Delpech venture out of Durban.

What is the latest standings? Remember last year the Jooste team threw everything at Anton in the last few weeks, plus what is the latest betting?

Definately still a 3 horse race IMO and you are right if they top 2 dont travel then Gav will be right there...he is in capetown 11th and 18th and has still got 2 more Zim meetings

The deserving winner, this season, would have to be Lerena. Fate dealt him a cruel hand when he had that horse take off with him at the Vaal, and he broke his leg, which put him on the sidelines for weeks, but what a comeback he's made after speeding up the healing process with sessions in a hyperbaric chamber, or whatever it was. He must be very determined to win the title, which is everything if one wants overseas invites. The other two are great jockeys, by international standards, already, but Gavin has something to prove and he looks good value, to me, if you're betting on the outcome.

I will never forget the ride Marcus had on Putinka.
Had absolutely no chance at the 150 metre mark.
I think it was the maiden win.

This title chase put Andrew Fortunes win into context, served just short of 3 months suspensions in the year and never rode anything under 58kg's but still rode 203 and missed the last 2 weeks of the season thru injury..

Gavin seems to be timing his run well. The injury break may have actually been just what he needed. he seems hungry and with the 2 Borrowdale race meetings he should win the title. Marcus and Delpech also don't seem to be chasing all over the country either.

I agree Shrek, for my money Gavin will walk it. He is very hungry and Marcus and Delpech not prepared to travel the way he is.....Wed in Cape Town not productive for Gavin but sure he will bring home one or two here next week.
