Ply qrts. You only have to get lucky in 1 race and it can pay for all the other bets for the day.Hit 2 and it can be a very nice day.Although there is a lot of mug money around on the day,the competitive racing with the large fields makes it very tough unless you are prepared to spend big money in order to catch the exotic bets.

Does anyone think 12 races is complete overkill?
Gold Circle could have scheduled a few of the races on the card a week or 2 before or after instead of the muck that have been running of late.

The course is too dry 12 races later and it will be all over the world again what a crap track they will say....meantime Clairwood is pristine and they should have laid off Greyville and not raced there yesterday..... a hint of moisture in the air and Mr Hawkins expects rain by Friday and possibly on the big day....I'm with Sly..... getting out of Durban heading for the comfort of my home big screen TV and the other on SABC....been to better July days in racing's hey days....times when it was about horses and horse people....and not the biggest jol by the sea....:

Complicated card, main bet -keeping it simple and going with Jackson x Ebony Flyer.
Race 1 - Live controversy
Race 8 - Lake Arthur

Was listening to the trainers waffle on when Tarry came on and moaned about the penalty Gold Onyx got. Tarry moaned alot before about horses that get in so I almost discounted what he said.
But when you look up the Cup trial, Tarry 100% correct.
Between Gold Onyx (101) and English Garden (107), is Buy And Sell (95) who stole a march and got run down by his stable companion. Buy And Sell runs off a 95 now and last ran a place in November last year when he split Code Rock (89) and Thandolwami (95) and probably ran a 99.
Tarry has to argue that B&S only hung on to 2nd because he set the pace perfectly for Gold Onyx.
English Garden just beat Lake Arthur and Lion In Winter who's chances were accurately reflected by their odds of 20/1 and 40/1
It is absurd to rate Buy And Sell as beating English Garden at his full 107, or that Buy And Sell should be improving in his 49th start as a pacemaker.
Tarry has read this right, and his horse has a spiteful 105 instead of 103. Will be bitter if the extra Kg is the margin that beats Gold Onyx.

As I watch the program on my computer monitor through the feed, I would like to find someway to incoporate a bet that would allow me the opportunity to add some virtual races and some dog races in with my Ebony Flyer bet, so that I may partake of the full on-line South African experience. Do they have any bets on the fashion attire that day? Ah, I guess that would be just too much to ask for.

No problem Barry we like to look after our overseas visitors you can have doubles and trebles etc with anything you need.
Glad you are using Ebony Flyer in the bets and break a leg on the big day, pity you are not in a pick 6 race.

Like Sylvester, i prefer to watch from home, this year i have family out from Australia and will be going to the track with them, unfortunately there is added pressure as they are looking to me for guidance, hoping for some early success with the double, Cossack General (2/1) onto Act Fast (9/2), Marshall was fairly bullish about this one's chances during the panel discussion on Sunday night. We'll see how that goes.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
