Champion Punter - Only for the elite(td)

Having read all the rules,entering this competition would be crazy in so many ways!

ENTRY FORM....

you will have R20K to bet with on tote of your initial 50k entry.minimum 5k must be bet on exotics,15k to play race by race BUT 50% of your balance must be spend on every race.......goeie donner,ek sal week moet afvat om racecard te studeer .....crazy , definitely crazy .....:S.but still want to challenge the clan for our own friendly competition on the day.....come now hibs and co,make it happen mr superman?X(

I wonder what happens to the other 400K?

Is it this the operator and government's share?

It's a competition where I would guess that the players get some incentive?

Example : have we (ABC) ever had a compo where the players don't get something for FREE ?

Here they are collecting R1M and paying 600k, the 400k goes back to the tote, if a punter wins eg a pick 6 for a million does he keep the money? Or is it just for the competition results?

If this is the case the Maths not very clever as the operator is basically taking the 400k.

Must say a great idea wish we could run a compo along same lines, the gambling board won't allow bookies via ABC to give incentive to the punters.

So at least they are not breaking the rules lol

P/TAB are really missing the target market here....one would estimate that it is the 2-5K a day Punter that has been lost to the bookie and the R10-50K/day are not walking around with cash....yet another badly conceived idea and instead of boosting our already odd paying pools.... imagine the effect of just 2 elite punters wagering the whole baby on a good thing.....it would then chase more of their middle market to a bookie to get better odds....

If I read the rules correctly,you will see that on the first race I will need to spend R7500 on tote bets.........a race that could well be 16 horses...5/6 first timers....5/6 horses with one run!!!!!
Unless I guessed right ,I face a similar type field in the 2nd and have to spend another R3750.
Probably start R11,250 down on two races that I would normally have used the time to have lunch!

A "champion" punter (if you have to use the tote)would probably allocate most of the R20000,, on extended exotics( ie.PA's P6's or Jpots) and maybe some on individual exotics(perhaps Quartets) spread over 3 races max.
Your best chance of a reasonable return ,when playing the tote, is to play into the biggest pools!

Crazy rules that turn any punter into a mug from the get go IMO.

its another case of the industry deciding what they think punters would want instead of going out in the market place do some market research and find out what punters would like ....it is very clear to me that both phumelela and gold circle havent got a fcuking clue about us mongrels and it is shown time and again....the competiton is for the elitist few and hey maybe racing is also only for the elite.......i will continue to show my disapproval for these 2 companies by betting on the open bet until they sit down and recognise punters and we collectively have a say in the industry in which we put billions into....until then they can go to hell

They could have also held "satelites" were normal punters could have qualified through smaller buy in comps,like we do in poker...

I would rather play in a Poker R50k freeze out competition. I can then decide what hands I want to play instead of having to play 1/2 my balance on each race. We have mentioned on this site time and time again about being selective of what you back, here you need to go big in every race.

Can't see them getting 20 players on these rules.

The concept of a punter being a 'champion' because he wins more money on one day than other punters is laughable.A s/h in your favour or against you can be the defining factor,so how does this competition prove anything to start with.
