True. Test cricket is the ultimate.

But the above comments just sounds like this format of the game is not important.

I wonder what would have been written by fellow posters on this thread If we (SA) won the tournament.

My guess is CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD.

Unfortunately we still hold the title of CHOKERS OF THE WORLD.... Believe me the Aussies are gonna use this in the upcoming test series....:)

We just need to win 1 tournament and the flood gates will open. I recon the ALL Blacks after finally winning a world cup will be very hard to beat in world cup after getting that monkey off their backs.

Agra, your 100% correct... Proteas will not lose the tag "World Champion Chokers" until they win a World Comp....

Shrek wrote "you need more than one batsman and one bowler to come off" Exactly! Thanks Shrek, this is what I've been feeling but you put it into just e right words.

I mean, how would Aus have done if whats-his-name, the big blond guy, hadn't hit form right when they needed it, bowling as well as batting? The rest of their team were not all that super-wonderful. Or if Gul, who's been under the cosh - with all the blogs (I read some of them) crying for him to be booted out of the team - hadn't had a rush of form just when SA were on track to beat Pakistan?

It just takes one bowler to bowl and one batsman to bat out of his skin, like Shrek says, and the game is won But Test cricket needs most of the team to fire.

And yes, if SA had won this tournament I/we would have been delighted. But in Test cricket SA have a reputation (read any of the old articles) for magnificent efforts (no chocking there!), often pulling off a tight match under tough circumstances. The cricket writers love them because they always provide close exciting matches and therefore plenty of copy.

Look back on some of the test matches against England especially ... they are counted among the "vintage" or "classic" matches that will always be remembered. Remember Donald, Kuiper, Pollock, Ntini? And a host of others ... great men ... they are in the history books and some are on the board at Lords. There's no such board for 20-20 matches and never will be.

The importance of hit and giggle cricket is reflected in that we use it to give youngsters a chance. If we played our test side in the 20/20 tournament I think we'd have a better chance.

A pleasure to watch Gayle. This guy can 'moer' a ball. Laid back and hate's to run.....just 6's & 4's......go West Indies....he's been there almost the whole innings.......it's showing, not the best runner, but what a great character .

Not so sure abt that - Windies have a weak bowling attack imo - except for the spinner

If you can't defend 205, even with the WI bowling defence, you don't deserve to be World T20 Champs. They'll come home like a drunkard, lonely.

Was a fun game it was to watch, yesterday ... the Windies do enjoy themselves when they are winning, without bothering about being dignified and boring ... and the whole team seems to have picked up the "Gayle Force of the Windies" victory dance.
