Durbanville race 2 - Stipes
12 years 7 months ago
After some irregular betting patterns where horses have been backed off the boards in Cape Town lately (2 have won and 1 got beat) the stipes have been made aware that dubious betting activity has taken place on this race. I have no doubt it will now be run on merit.

R2 Johan... or R3 as that looks a lot more peculiar to me!

On Thursday a certain punter attempted to have a massive bet on Rainbow Dash in race 2. Bookmakers found this to be highly suspicious. To add fuel to the fire both the jockey of Rainbow Dash and the punter were spotted together in Port Elizabeth together on Thursday night. The punter in question has already had his accounts closed or limited by the biggest bookmakers in the country. It's not wright that he is trying to make a fortune in this manner.

Sorry, I do not agree with your comment.
I don't see anything wrong with this.
However the jockey is NOT allowed to have bet.
This bookmakers are running scared.
I talk and meet with jockeys and trainers all the time. Where's the problem?

The problem is that race fixing is taking place in Cape Town. The punter needs to win big money to look after all the dwarfs that are in on the joke. When last was a jockey in this country suspended for race fixing ? It has happened in both in the Uk and Australia recently and over the years many South African jockeys have fallen foul of the Mauritian authorities for not riding to suitable standards. Our stipes just cannot be bothered.

Johann
I can only come up with one thought regarding the issue.
I have been watch movements for this race especially because of the claims and the fact that I personally feel that
Life's Design should not get beat in that race.
I think that there might have been deliberate claims on Rainbow Dash to purposefully move Life's Design outwards.
When this happens, the connections will have major strikes on Life's Design.
I forsee Life's Design starting at around 5/10
that's my take.

Agra i think the point Johan is making is that he is saying in advance that it is a Oner! ie he doesnt care what price Lifes design goes cause they know the result ! well lets see how good they are ? maybe they will be carded as geldings next time

By the way the fact that they fancy a horse for a fortune doesnt constitute race fixing - if they are right on merit they can put a million on they are entitled to this - what is a different story is if the danger goes missing on purpose which is what you are saying i assume

i agree with you at first glance Lifes design looks the right one on paper but Rainbow Dash's first 2 runs were excellent especially the first run form franked and all 4 runs been with Dlee now Fortune and much better drawn than Lifes design. But doesnt look anything special if it hasn''t won in 4 starts and also is a cheapie at 15 000 but i do like the fact that it is back to 1000m. Obviously the money is talking loudly so they must be confident.
