100k maiden BUT half the field will end up rated less than 60, I am all for higher paying maidens BUT i think there should be a pre qualification into them. No point having 100k maidens with weak horses.
Again i ask the question if a trainer has a maiden rated 68 and is running consistently WHY not race it in a handicap and eliminate the risk of continuing to bump higher rated maidens?

His Nibs broke its maiden as a 5yo in Bloem. Ended up winning the Greyville 1900 and running in the July. Gift Funeka became the 1st black jockey to ride in the July aboard His Nibs.

Yes it is. I think many Natal trainers have been waiting with some of the better maidens for now.

Craig
Not starting and argument or being funny but no way can that be the case and in most maiden races there are at least 4 horses at greater than 50/1 and with NO CHANCE.

Hi Easy, it is in place and possibly the reason is one that we not happy with. After your horses running in 1st 5 places last run getting in 1st and then your unraced horses, you them go to the elimination process where every unplaced run after your 2nd unplaced run you get basically -1 rating. So after 3 unplaced runs after your 1st 2 runs you would be on -3. Therefore the -1s get in first then the -2s etc. That I can understand but what I dont like is say what happened with Cools Style. Ridden badly and ran 6th beaten 5 lengths in a 18 horse field and he was eliminated for a horse that ran 6th in a 6 horse field beaten 13 lengths. You also find that most trainers will rather wait with the horses that have a chance of winning, than run them frm the inside at Clairwood or the outside at Greyville or Scottsville. So often bad horses will still get in.
