Thanks to an initiative by Nota in conjunction with Gold Circle we start our R100000 maidens from Saturday. Great for Kwazulu Natal based trainers and their supporting owners. We are very grateful. Thank you.

Top stuff, considering we are full of "maidens " here in KZN. Will there be an increase for other merit hcap races and plate races??
I really miss those good ole days when in a day's racing programme we had the 1st 2 or 3 races for maidens only. Then the action began with a D div, a C Div, a B div with the topliner an A div. Of course the varying distances made it more interesting and I really liked the A div sprint races over 1000 and 1200 m.
The marathon races also not frequent but very exciting to see genuine stayers battle it out over 2400m upwards.

Would be exciting to see a raceday restricted to all maidens only. Great stuff considering they all race for a hundred grand and soon exit the ranks.
Remember the days when a 5 yr old battling maiden was not eligible to race and was put on the float to Vrystaat to break the duck?
One such character was His Nibs who went on to win a minor feauture at Greyville!!
