The truth be told those who wont post here because of the chance of some posters having a go at them obviously feel that they are doing us a favor by commenting on the runners/rides and should be immune to critic and in the instances where that in fact is the case we are far better off without them....

1. In my limited time spent viewing TT, SS was the dog's bollox (in the UK that means outstanding lol). Personally, I always find it refreshing to hear someone trying to correct things everyone can see are wrong and not caring if it goes out live or not. Better to show you care than pretend it never happened. However, anyone who does so and also just walks out is not going to be the dog's bollox in their bosses eye. That is life.
2. Does anyone actually know what Phumelela told Ken R regarding what they expected of him in the job?
3. Not meaning to offend anyone, but I think it harsh Ken R is blamed for problems like internet connection etc. Yes, maybe the buck stops with him. But from my personal experience, trying to get those on the shop floor to care enough about getting a job done right in SA can result in complete hair loss and a severe bruise to the forehead caused by head-butting the wall on numerous occasions in total frustration. I have not been surprised when my bosses were surprised that things were not being done as they should be. That is often SA business life imho.
4. Louis, as I did with Craig, I sympathise. But this is a forum where people are going to be criticised. In a way, its like a newspaper with 2000 journalists. Some of them will be critical at times of others, whether they be other clanners or not. Some of that criticism to many others will seem idiotic. I certainly think there have been many instances of idiotic posts (maybe even some of my own). That is also life. You seem a passionate man but remember this is a place where speculation etc is going to happen. Not all of us are privileged enough to have the knowledge. And as you say, many with the knowledge won't come on here. I am sure some of them don't do so for the reasons you gave. I am equally sure others don't because they have no wish to answer difficult questions that may arise. Lets be honest, from what Chippy said a week or so back, it doesn't seem that many even within the profession get along like a house on fire :) If they have nothing to hide then I see no problem coming on. The Shams are an excellent example where giving a little earns a lot in return.
5. Overall, as things stand, I'm with Chippy.

IMO if the petition says "Shaheen must stay"
The 200 signatures would have been a doodle.

Having a go at Ken Rutherford is not entirely off the mark, as he won't loose his job but will make him cognisant of his actions and give him an idea to be more engaging. It seems that his employer has tightened up the purse strings and cost cutting is affecting the operation.

Ken has got to get more inventive with his spend. Cutting costs on personal and reducing staff is not going to do it as already the reshuffling of other presenters to cover for Shaheen is very noticable.

TT does not really need a high profile CEO- they need an organizer, a hands on facilitator, a fixer, a problem solver,an operator, a doer,a rain maker that can operate a tight budget and do it without robbing Paul to pay Peter. If they got a person that does not need a top drawer price tag there would be a lot more to spend to turn that final product into something that is more acceptable..

easy way to cut costs - have only one oncourse presenter not two - Why do you need two? The lady in England does it all and is very good(Emma Jones) but here we need two presenters for what(to mention every horse in the race) ? That is just common sense -

Right on the money J Pegged...however if KR cant achieve what is required to improve the current state of affairs then he must go...as Mr H correctly points out offering someone like Darryl Maree a R50 per shift increase (which is in fact asking for him to go) and then having the unnecessary additional expense of 2 on course presenters is NOT good management..and then there is the shoddy working conditions that prevail..

I think that some of the clansmen should get out there with their laptops and get the guys in the totes to sign the petition then we'll get 1000's of signatures

When I registered I stated that your views, banter and input was like a breath of fresh air.

Did I underestimate you

To quote an old Gaelic Blessing;

May the roads rise with you
And the wind be always at your back
And may the Lord hold you in the hollow of His hand

Thanks Clanners HIT THEM HARD

Easier said than done, the Emma Jones example does not really work here, as she is highly knowlegable and extremley talented and can present alone, and because we do not know the UK "scene " she sounds like she has got it taped.

There are those that can pull it off, and present alone and those that can't....locally I rate the following as stand alone on course presenters they are Darryl Maree, Niel Pretorius and Paul Lafferty.(Gareth Pepper does OK in Kimberly but that should be young Alvin's job as he is a good fit there and Gareth continue polishing his skills in studio and present on course at midweek meetings)

The others all need to pass back and forth "opinion" and have that "banter" to get and keep the "discussion" flowing. Deez in DBN does this well with a "guest" and maybe this is the route to go if they cannot afford 2 on course paid presenters.
