She earned the penalty no doubt but i still believe that long term it was the wrong race for a 3yo filly...the 6,5kg penalty for not winning a race vindicates my thinking...

oh yes it has probably taken a bit of stake money away from the filly..but the connections know this when accepting to run..u know if you are going to run against 110s and 120s at WFA and run well you are going to get rated accordingly

totally agree, they were confident that she could beat the highest rated sprinter in his backyard and she almost did, what if she won the race, would the nonbelievers sing another tune?definately......now they know she is worth a few millions more and the best 3yo in this country and lots of races to come against any sex....she will beat them all at wfa and set weights

She did run a fantastic race, but lost to a horse that is better over 1200 just come back from running a Group 1 mile two weeks earlier. Her optimal trip is 1000 meters and had the perfect prep and still couldn't beat the Champ with everything in her favour. Once What a Winter retires she will be the best 1000 meter horse racing in the Country, until then she will have to settle for number 2.

WAW is one horse in the race..take him out and she has hands down beaten a 110 and others in the mid to upper 100s

Agreed, I never metioned anything but WAW, there are plenty on here going on about how he will never beat her again. He had everything against him and still beat her, over her preferred trip. She is head and shoulders above the rest but not WAW.

As good as she is and contrary to the rumors flying around Val de Ra would have chewed her up and spat her out...

Guy's she is a THREE year old FILLY !! Beaten by the top sprinter in the country into a howling SE (55km/h +). What was in her favour as a front runner ? She is ranked 2lb's better than Val da Ra at this stage in her career. For her to loose to WAW in the way she did just proves her class. For anyone to say she will never loose to WAW again is stupid !! But if she does, what will it do to her as the top rated three year old ? Nothing !! She can only improve. WAW ? Absolutely brilliant filly !!

Neigh
Val Da Ra ended her career as an 11 time winner with earnings of just over R1,8M on a MR 113 Via Africa has won 4 races and not yet earned 400K and is already on a MR113, I feel that running her in that race was not a good decision...she is brilliant and will win her races no doubt but imo she will never reach the heights that VDR did.
