Howzit clanners...

I really think IMPO that Jackson and Pomodoro can be beaten for the J&B met .... so here are my fancies to beat them if they flop they lines....

Slumdogmillionaire - with the luck of the draw and a good prep leading to the met , this lightly raced and highly thought of horse could be great value...also racing off a current merit rating of 112 after only 6 runs which 3 were wins and 2 were places....He has to have an outstanding chance of upsetting the top 2 in the market

Run for it - this horse has only run 3 times since it's great effort behind the champion IGUGU in last year's met and looks like the trainer has just kept him fit enough for this particular race...only concern is the wide draw but with the long straight of the new course and bernard on board could be a lurker in this race

Hill Fifty Four- this horse is improving all the time and could be slightly under-rated....showed in last two starts that wide draw will pose no problems as it has good gate and cruising speed....although up in class can teach them a good galloping lesson if allowed to get away early.

Beach Beauty- what an amazing last win ...she absolutely hacked in and made the field look like amateurs...is taking a liking to this course over a mile and beyond an should see out the 2000m perfectly.

that's my 2c and I hope that it will win me the trifecta's and quartets with the top 2

later B)-

Ok Greg no need to shout. :D

He must have a chance as he is the unknown factor as has no collateral form with any of the others in the race. I have included him in trifecta's and quartets.

I know Hibs already has a thread going with trainer comments, but Winning Form also gained brief comments from each of the trainers for their runners. Nice pictures of each horse to refresh your memory of the colours come race day :)

Here are my fancies for the day.

R1) Varikate (5/1), purely because she has drawn better than the favourite, La Tigresse (28/10).

R2) Code Of Honour (7/1), should reverse the placings with Villa Del Largo (7/2) on their last meeting, and whilst the favourite, Casual Var (5/2), has the strongest form, he has not raced beyond 1000m, so i will go with the value COH.

R3) Here's my bomb for the day, Great Fox (20/1)::o, on the weight turn around with The West Is Wide (5/1), GF is 3.5kgs better off for a 1.90 lengths beating, GF represents good value and has fair form.

R4) Don't fancy anything, too much talk about just the entire field.

R5) Ashton Park (7/1), this horse appears to be looking for the extra 200m, and further, favourite Unencumbered (5/1) appears the one to beat, but i will stick with my fancy in an open betting race.

R6) Favourite is too short for an on the head punt and there must be some doubt whether he will get the distance, so i have sided with Abercrombie(14/1), appears to be looking for this distance. If he jumps on terms, i make he the biggest danger to the favourite.

R7) Hammie's Hooker (5/1), valid excuse in it's last run, must have a chance on it's penultimate run where she ran on strongly from a deep draw.

R8) Pomodoro(7/2), because there doesn't appear to be any pace in the race, i think this horse has proved he can turn on the speed when downing some decent sprinters in his seasonal debut. Something else that has swayed me somewhat, the fact that Tarry skipped the Summer Handicap, is that not the biggest prize money race in SA?, if so, that's a bold/confident move by Tarry. Imagine telling one of the biggest owner's in the game to forego a chance of a big winners cheque, in place of a smaller winner's cheque! He's prep has gone as good as any.

R9) Captainofmysoul
(5/2), despite top weight.

R10) Grasp Your Destiny
(4/1), blinker strick, fair weight, consistancy reward.

R11) Don't fancy anything.

R12) Dubai Gina
(7/2) don't see any pace in this race, has a good turn of speed and is well weighted.

Break a leg clanners.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
