Mr Perpetual............I have recently had an expensive car ruined by mechanics that would not have been allowed into a work shop 30 years ago.
............I have recently been treated by hospital staff ( private and state hospitals) that would not have been allowed to practise 30 years ago .
............I have recently dealt with teachers that would not have been allowed to teach 30 years ago.
Is that a reflection on me for allowing this to happen?.........:S

If you are all so right & the "smart crackers" don't know what they are talking about then what are you brain surgeons still doing in this game of lazy lay-abouts, better still fire all the grooms & do it yourself or fly in some grooms from the UK.
I learn't a valuable lesson as a youngster, "bitches & moaners remain bitches & moaners no matter what company/industry, and people with the balls to make changes to their work environment & lives are the true achievers"
South Africans must be very lazy & that is the exact reason why we can find work in foreign countries.......

Reminds me of the old Frederick Taylor story from Industrial Psychology 101 where the owner got a big Irishman to move 4 times the normal productivity and paid him twice as much as anybody else got. In truth some of the guys are not a grooms arse and are little more than semi-skilled labourers. Pay the guys what they are worth.

Englander
I function at about 40% work 60% lazy. In the UK myself and many south africans/polish/aussies ect outshine the English on a daily basis.
I think its a bit insulting to speak of laziness with regards to SA. I was there recently and was astounded at how things have progressed in the 3 years since i had been there.
As for the issue with grooms. the bottom line is simple and I myself am guilty of this.
To properly train a horse in SA ( training/stabling/food/groom/work rider) sould be about R10 000 per month minimum.
That is a fact, i was at the vaal and some trainers cant even paint their stable walls, some looked derelect.
Most trainers PAY in rather than take out.
I Should NOT be able to afford horses in SA, it should be out of my price range. If that was the case everything would improve including grooms.

I don't deny that to be the case at all Easy, I would only say that I find it true of many foreigners working in other lands, Brits, SA, Oz, NZ etc they always seem to outshine the locals. I think it is simply a subconscious thing where it seems extra important to prove yourself and your worth, many need the work money to do their "travels" though not all are travelling of course. But for those working to live in that respective country, I think they know they have to keep the job to be able to stay in the country and often there is therefore that extra bit of application.
Also, I am not insulted by that comment Easy, I take it as your honest observation. It would be "nice" if you managed to do the same with my honest observation.
