Varsity Cup-Back your boytjies

The Final @ Coetzenburg tonight at 19h00. Both teams unchanged from their semi-final victories where Tuks took UJ to the cleaners and Maties just made it against NMMU beating them 16-15 in very windy conditions and a really bad match ref.

Maties have a brilliant record at home. I think they have only lost twice at home since Varsity cup started. Both teams know how to play finals. Maties did not look good in the semi's while Tuks will come to Stellenbosch full of confidence after beating UJ 61-24. A up and coming referee, Marius v/d Westhuizen (29) will be in charge. He also blew the 7's final 2 weeks ago. There's very little wind around, but there might be some rain around.

Maties at home? Tough to beat, but I was impressed everytime Tuks needed to up their game. This game can go either way, but I will stick to history. Maties to win and Tukkies +7 looks tempting.

Well summed up Ou ryperd.. Maties the "form" side since they have not lost and Tukkies the "form" side after there Semi - final thumping ... but Maties at home shoud either edge it out or If the crowd gets behind them they could win by +21 in the last 15.... so I will just go for a Maties win in front of a very good supportive Maties crowd.

Should be a great game between two top sides. Maties have not been impressive but always done enough to win. Tuks have blow hot and cold and will find the Maties defense harder to crack. I am going for an upset so have backed Tukkies at 17/10.

Maties will need to improve from their showing against NMMU in albeit gusty conditions. I do however think that they will do just that against a spirited TUKS side and come home by about 10 points. That vicious rolling mall the Maties possess could be key tonight.

Monsterous first half display by TUKS. Can't remember a Maties attack yet. Still 44 minutes to go though.

The most one sided final I have seen in ages, Maties just never showed up. Would live to see the territory and possetion stats.

They have the best schools in the country, Paul Roos, Paarl Gim, Paarl boys, Boland landbou and a few of the southern suburbs, Bishops and the rest......WP don't look after the boys and the Bulls buy all the tallent. I wish US and all the Stellenbosch & Paarl schools leave the WP franchise.
