TUKS are making a mockery of what is supposed to be a student rugby competition. They far outstrip the rest with regard to the amount of money invested in their program. This extends to the vast sums they spend on recruiting players from all over the country as well.
Tuks are certainly not the only culprits in this regard but perhaps the most indulgent. Some sort of financial cap needs to be introduced in the near future. Must say that I really enjoyed seeing Maties' second string beat them last week, in an ironic way it was a victory for the underdog which is not usually a tag attached to the Maroon jersey.
Well done to Maties for their victory yesterday, painful to watch but we needed to take our chances. Cannot afford to pass up great try scoring opportunities against the clinical boys from Danie Craven, what a vicious driving maul they have in their arsenal! Hopefully UCT will be better for the experience next year as this team won't lose too many players to Province and the Stormers. Maties however may not be so lucky as they have had a few standouts this year, might not matter though as they churn out the talent in the Boland over and over and over again.
Still sticking with myprediction of another varsity cup success for Maties, may even play the Bulls in the final.

A great Monday of Varsity Cup rugby. Both televised games should be exciting and will have a big bearing on where the other 3 playoff spots will go (Maties look set to top the log).

Yes, I am really looking forward to it, should be a great game and there is always a great vibe. Hopeing UJ can pull of a victory.
Anyone watching the game keep an eye on UJ hooker Malcom Marx, he had to get permission to play this year because of his age, he is a great talent who could go all the way.

Only doing a double tonight on the 2 televised games Pukke (63/100) and UJ (5/4).
Holding thumbs UJ can pull it off tonight. (tu)

Also feel that the Pukke at home will just edge out the Madibas by about 5 points. Shrek, tough game, UJ - Tuks. Close to call, but hoping for you that UJ pulls it through. Enjoy the game. Maties - Wits, Maties by 30 at least. Upset of the day, Ikeys to beat Shimlas.
