Hmmmmm, I am considering alternative employment. Anyone know some friendly TAB operator who needs a cashier ??

Not really as you would have to prove you gave the extra amount...if you have walked away...

Agree Len, I think it's time the operator Gold Circle did something to erase this problem if they value the R20-- punters who are the bread and butter patrons in the Totes.

The biggest fraud carrying on at the tote outlets is done on the PA, Jackpot and P6 bets, whereby the teller cancels the bets as soon as the punter walks away in the hope the bet does not come in.

what the load of rubbish. if you take bets you dont now how much you take and get ripped off then you deserve to loose your money. as for cancel bets if this happen then the teller get caught when a win bet arrive because they are no allowed to give cancel bet back to customer. i now of one person many year ago who get prosecuted for cancel bet without permission. so tab quickly find out and person loose job

That's where the elderly and alcohol-stricken come in Flash. These operators wait to pick on easy prey who don't decide for example I will spend R50-- worth of bets on this race.

Also when you go to collect your winnings and you have not taken down all the dividends and worked out your percentages via your cellphone calculator, then you will surely get ripped off by the vultures.

They are not like your friendly supermarket cashier to give your change with a smile , at least not all of them.

Racing Guru has highlighted the procedure very well with the example of the bowser boys at the petrol station.If you donot ensure that the pump was cleared then it's an add-on situation.

Now how many drivers actually hand over keys and say fill it up without scrutinising?
