What is every one on about SOMA winning with love struck, Shane Humby also trained the horse when it was in cape town,no one made a fuss about that,so why must SOMA take all the credit for,the horse has won with 3 different trainer's in clouding lafferty.

Its sad some of the people on this site always look to fight with certain people .
The clever dicks who say that Paul was wrong dont even kjnow the Story from Laffs side,
Speculate cause shit srtir as much as you can the boiling pot etc.
Paul Lafferty trained the horse Mentor won a fortune backing this horse at scottsville ,my info says more than 300k but can be wrong Laff is a good man loves racing never hurts anyone give him a break.
He goes every year Dubai the horse was left in Joeys Hands only to have the saddle put on his back .
Cancel Dubai trip or come to Turfontein before the race i know what i would have done ,not sure after.
If he made a mistake does he need to be hanged .
Come on guys stop having a go at a good guy.
NB i was in Dubai one year and the race was won by Mike Channon the assistant was there to lead horse in ,i have been at Clive Britain stable in the UK we watched his horse run 2nd in group2 in Ireland the head lad traveled and saddled the horse
its not uncommon.
move foward and say well done Paul Good luck Paul
Well Done Mentor
If Laff loses this horse the next time Mentor wants to back it i will lay it for the Maxiumum.

Maybe the right thing was to have Laff's assistant on course
Laff could of flew him up to represent the stable
And he could of helped Mentor in the objection..
Nice tho that love struck had his groom from the stable
That would of helped the horse alot

Zenyatta I not arguing with you,I agree the horse would have won with Laff as well, nothing special about SOMA training that made the horse win,as I side the horse won in the cape with Humby as well.

Mentor, well done and all the best.
Lafferty, I have waited for you to have a Grade 1 winner, well done, you deserve it.
A horse was chosen, a horse was trained, a horse was punted, fun was had and now success. Don't let a difference of oppinion break up a winning formula.
I had many heated discussions with Duncan Howells but stuck with him and him & I had our first Grade 1 winner together....... life is funny that way...

Many college drop outs have become multi-million/billionaires...
This comment of yours is injust...
I ask a question...
When Craig posts about his runners we are all totally grateful, now that he posts to defend a friend / colleague he gets attacked...
Craig most probably knows more of the truth to this whole saga than you do - regarding the Laff / Soma issue...
Maybe there are those emails that someone else mentioned (did not read to the very end of this thread... going pear shaped very quickly)... and he dropped hints and now he gets shot down... think those mails need to be aired, to defend the trainers in this instance... anyway the truth always gets out... Maybe there is no additional info than what was given, in the end Craig makes valid points, Laff had done all the hard work with the horse and Soma just did the final touches... they both have to be congratulated
Personally I would have a horseman trainer and looking after my horse than an business / law degree character looking after my horse... I would have a guy who has ridden horses / and looked to horses since they were kids opposed to someone sitting with a piece of paper claiming to know it all... sometimes the hands on experience triumphs the piece of paper a character is holding...
I only have a matric... so what am I not smarter than some of you degree holding people??? you may be a master in your profession, but lets take it to a different playing field an I'm sure I would have you guys stone cold... so... to bash a trainer not having a degree or something similar IMVHO is hilarious
And well done Mentor on the G1.

There is no issue between Laff and Joe Soma, where do those foundations come from?

W exactly right. As I told Easy the other night when he called. I only write about 10% of what I know of the ins and outs of some subjects as I feel it is for the people concerened to give the full facts. Whether Paul was at the races or not is between Paul and Mentor and no one else. I will be taking more of a back seat and just watching the sh1t that is written on here. I write the truth and get told I am talking sh1t by someone who could probably not put a bridle on a horse and make sure it fits properly! Why should I take that? I will still keep posting where necessary but am certainly not going to reply to idiots. If someone also wants to PM me and ask anything I am very willing to answer but not on an open forum where I get slated for stating the truth. I obviously cannot be a very good teacher as after 1800+ postings I still got people who cannot or dont want to accept the most basic building block of horse racing! 90% of the reason a horse wins is because of the horse himself!

Sorry Craig, I have not got involved in this issue other than your contention that the ability of horses varies dramatically, but the ability of man is equal and achievement is based on luck......I don't care who agrees with that ,but anybody with any sense knows that is not true!
It does however make the non-achievers feel better.
