the trainer did not believe in the horse but the owner did and he was proved right. perhaps then trainers should listen more to their owners...
I expcted Tellina to win but Love struck did not struck me as a complete suprise....
at the end of the day we all know a little bit about the thoroughbreds.....

it works both ways though - I know an owner that had a filly just win one of the weakest Maidens of the season - He then forced the trainer to run the horse in a small feature where it ran nowhere just because he wanted a runner on the day. The horse is mediocre and has never won since. He rated this horse far higher than the Handicapper and trainer.
Just like children owners sometimes think their horses are the best forgetting there are other horses and stables. A healthy balance between trainer/jockey/FORM/MERIT RATING(the Handicappers are pretty smart too) and owner input is best.

unfortunately everyone thinks their opinion is the best in this game hence that healthy balance remains elusive....

Well Done Mentor for clearing up the air.
I am happy that you acknowledge Mike Burns. He is a good and humble man.
I wish one day that he will be able to take out his full trainers licence.
BTW - I have been instrumental in bringing Micheal up from a Cape where he had been the assistant to Glen Kotzen.
