I think on the job training is what counts here(and natural ability to work with animals) - Mr Ferraris is a perfect example of a Trainer that brought others through the ranks that were assistant to him. Mr Millard too

Ok,I retract my statement, maybe I'm being unfair.I've just had a bad experience in the past and know plenty who have had too.I'll leave it at that.

iv mentioned this before and i will mention it again being a trainer has changed hugely in the last 10 years or so and trainers that were successful then do not suddenly overnight forget how to train horses ....i could go on but its very hard to discuss this matter with people who with all due respect havent had the neccessary insight into the industry from within

Shrek

The above is the same story that I have heard.
I am told that Mentor regrets his comments on TV. I guess we will never know the truth.

At the end of it, I am not sure why every Tom Dick and Harry has something to say about this on this forum.

I am not sure how all this affects our lives. We should have NO INTEREST in this matter and it has FCUK ALL to do with anyone else but the trainer and owner.

Pirates since you shoot from the hip I want to ask you a question about your experience as a owner

Since according to most trainers its 95 percent or maybe even more the horse and less about the training ability of a trainer,it is remotely possible that some trainers are stringing owners along just to pay the bills?

I mean if a trainer says he is unlucky in not getting good stock surely he should be telling his owners that have bad horses and to retire them

i will answer in 2 parts first of all i dont agree about it being 95 percent being the horse ,2ndly yes there are a lot of trainers out there who do string owners along but there are owners out there who cant handle being told that there horse is no good so you have to be careful what you say to these owners and how you say it....owner education is sadly lacking imo

Ok i did back love struck. Why? This is what i belive.
a horse that run in the Race6 in the
Durban july, can run in the next years July and
can win it.
THIS IS A PROFILE OF LOVE STRUCK

22.12.12 k1600 6 to Capetown n0ir.
12.01.13 k1800 Won. Wow it won a grade 1 .
LOVE STRUCK HAS IMPROVED AND WON A GRADE1 RACE AT 1800M.
His next step was to run in Gunineas Grade1 in gauteng

30.3.12 G gr1 1800m Wön . Wow check his distance back to 1800m

Love struck has improved frm his grade 1 at greyville at Durban july 2012. He did travell across the country

Well Lefferty took a hoilday to the world cup.enjoyed his hoilday while Love struck won a great race in Sa. Possible Love struck has a work rider that has travel wit him from KZN -CAPE-GP.well if anybody get the credit is possible the Work rider if it has 1.

Facts I did put this horse in my pa Jackpot and pick6! Love struck is improving over distance.it could just come frm off the pace and win it race.. A great team put together made this horse win without Paul...LOVE STRUCK HAS PROVEN SOMETHING THAT A LOTS OF CAPE TRAINER HAS FAILED DOING BY WINNING GRADE RACE IT GP.EVEN POCKET POWER COULD HAVE WON A BONUS OF WINNING THE 1MILLION BONUS FOR WINNING ALL 3 GRADE 1 RACES.JULY-SUMMERCUP-J&B.

Well if Love struck is well taken care and has a gud workrider it Could be a Super star in the making.
Well a great win to a great team wit a great horse.
