@zen - you answered your own statement. Moyes has done a great job with mediocre players on a shoe string budget. Give him the pick of the transfers and he will win the league. Yes trainers, managers have their place but the athlete in any sport is the be all and end end all. Mourinio is a great manager but give him scunthorpe united and he won't get promotuon let alone win any trophies. I don't know why I bother replying because nothing you have said makes any sense.

Richie my last reply,to your post
1.You can't takea horse,to the water and make him drink.
2.Richie all a good manager trainer needs to do is get the best out of the team available
For selection.I never ever said trainers can force horses to run faster or managers can produce miracles.
Alli said is some managers are able to get the best out of the team.
Moves is one who gets the maximum.
The stoke manager is another who gets results.
3.Why waist my time answering you ,Idon't know but be that as it may
are you applying for a manager of a soccer team as it seems you know everything about soccer management.
Do you even have a Coaching badge maybe a Uefa badge of some sort.
As it seems you are an expert.

Enjoy your career as a soccer expert.

I cant agree fully. Sometimes the crucial decisions trainers/owners make can change horses careers.

Pocket Power never went to KZN as a 3yo, never ran in any of the big races young. Anyone would have to admit that at many other places we would never have heard of PP. Some horses jump too soon into big races, others never try. Some horses spend most of their careers running just out of the places in features earning nothing, while yet others earn many times their purchase price as journeymen.

Each horse has a story, and the trainer chose the route. I do agree sometimes fate chooses, but more often it is people. Even with jockeys, you will be hard pressed to say that Striker hasn't been winning races this season that wouldn't have been won had he not ridden them. I think we are watching a great talent unfortunately riding crap horses in crap races where normally nothing makes much difference because we have handicapped everything to a bland powder.

if horses are everything, why do we need trainers?
if trainers are everything why do we spend so much on breeding?
if jockeys are not important why do we have the academy?

everyone plays their part in the story.....

Thanks - I have been enjoying my 25 years so far in the field of football, playing, coaching, managing, running clubs, sitting on executive boars etc. To answer your question yes i have my level 2 coaches badge. I also have a degree in sports management. I have represented my province and played reserve football for proffesional clubs. Guess that makes me an expert. how much of the above do you have in racing considering you know so much about how much the trainers input is?

I really know Fxxx All about horses I am a good bingo and marbles player. The odd time i played some dominoes.

I have also tried my hand at bridge and scrabble but not to good.

As to horses Richie you are correct the key to winning a race is the horse i am wrong and am sorry i used my arse not brain thinking the trainer was so important.

NB Please all clan members and Team Valour (out of retirement) there are a few trainers battling if you have a few extra horses maybe you can send some to the trainers that have only a few horses .
I promise you they will eat well ,will be fed on Epol cubes and Ricky Maingaurd feed and the really good ones Mike DE Kocks BEST.

Your vet bills will be reduced as we dont use vets often we save your money.(tell Ferrari next time we race we race on Richies Rubber tyres all weather.)
The farrier bill is not expensive as my groom is an expert farrier.

When we nominate we ask Clackerjacks racing service and Mr Wong typing (Chinease numbers) as to the chance we have in the race.
Very cost effective.
Also we save you lots of money we train on 4 strings so we use 4 horse to each groom.

And pity they barred Anthony the vet or maybe we could arrange free vet work

Its the horse not the trainer lol

Scarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

So in your expert opinion, Variety Club would not be the champion he is if trained by a lesser stable?

He will always be a champion
Some are great champions others are champions one thing i gaurentee you is 50% of trainers would have ruined pocket powers career
He would have been a good horse won a few group1s but not all those QP MET wins.
Bass is a master at placing a horse.
Do you think Igugu would have won the met and July trained by other trainers.
How many trainers would have had Igugu at 60% before the Woolavington.
How many trainers have a good horse only to ruin him because of lack of patience.
I am not mentioning names but could roll out a list to big for this page of ruined horses.

About sarcasm you started it

The horse its the horse you have to ask why many stables are in form only 1 month of the year and go off after that.

It's not always the horse but things a trainer does to improve a horse - Rember Cardinal Fury that Mr Wiid got from top trainer Mrs Hemming and got to win The Summer Cup I think? And I remember Joe Soma getting a horse to win multiple times with a horse that box weaved - He hung some "bricks(or something similar)" in the box and the horse stopped weaving and found winning form. It's what you do with what you got that makes the difference.
