but with his mediocre string ...he could raid anywhere in the uk(or am a i wrong)....if he found a race in lingfield for example....is he gonna be excluded from nominating there....thats precisely the point...its only in SA that is nonsense exists of provincialism..i cant believe that anybody in racing can truely believe that this bias is good for racing in general...all its doing is feeding mediocrity..without sounding racist at all.but this is a true fact....in the early days our education was divided in this country..and 1 of the old governments policy was that indian education must be very tough and stringent so that we must fail ....and sure enough in the early days many of our indian forefathers failed...and dismally too...beacuse they made it so tough to pass....but what the government didnt realise is that they were in fact breeding a stronger indain nation...because with time we started to cope and excel at this stringent level...and soon enough indian students were amongst the brightest in the land.....i know when i was in matric and studying past papers from other departments ....they were a cake walk compared to our past year exam papers....my point is...that as tough as it may seem at the time...we have to raise the bar....and i can tell u as it stands at the moment...our education has dropped to such a level...and u can see what kind of results and students it is producing...because government has dropped its standards....maybe i am from the old school;...but what it did teach me was...if u want to achieve something with value ,u have got to persevere....when its easily given...u fall into a false sense of.......i leave it blank...each person can finish the sentence off as they wish

just to add in the 90's...when south africans were buying expensive horses from oversseas....the likes of TRACEY'S ELEMENT,ETC ETC...1 of the long term sights was that is was gonna improve our gene pool....and that it did...it was not by chance that our horses...(soft falling rain ..etc)are world class...because the ground work was done...

Big Difference in the UK rg is the trainers have their own property and dont rely on the operators for a home. They also travel on the day(something thats not possible in SA because of logistics)

tracys element never went to stud in sa she went back to oz:)..davethe flowerr your comments are spot on unfortunately through poor decision making and demographics to a lesser extent this wont come about ....who knows where the cutoff point will be in 5 years time maybe a merit rating of 80 will be your worst horse catered for...a sure way of losing more owners as we all arent privileged to own superstars...mediocre horses are catered for in oz and england but in sa they must be used as horsemeat ....maybe we should just have the premier league in england and scrap the other leagues as they are mediocre lets just cater for the big boys ...its a joke

1.surely you can enter your horses when and wherever in SA
2.joey ramsden is from the UK,we tend to have a wind up,sarcastic sense of humour.
3. I think it's a load of bollocks and disrespectful that JR says about ABC,but that's he's prerogative.
4.im going for a swim

I am not covering for Joey as I don't know him,but suddenly Craig is a Saint?
I haven't forgotten that he is very quick to suggest other posters are stupid
So,as harmfull as their argument is to racing in general
Maybe he had it coming?:S

i remember the out cry from some local breeders when people start shopping for better horse in australia and new zeeland it was around the end of the eightees or very early nineties. now i am not sure but i can re member that there was a proposal to have the surcharge on imported horse when they get register for racing im not sure if this is still the case?

Hijacking the thread
- but I also agree - catalogues can be misleading - the now extinct Equimark Vintage catalogues showed the MR / Sporting Post AR - that was helpful imo
The way the catalogues are presented leaves an opportunity for 'bloodstock experts' to analyze the catologue and sort of separate the wheat from the chuff - not sure that there are many of these around?

bloodstock experts?lol there are a few that claim to be and as you know frodo bullshit baffles brains in this industry...how many owners have fallen prey to these fly by nighters is unbelievable...it must be the only job in racing you dont need a qualification to become one just call yourself a bloodstock agent and there you go
