Imo it would also depend on how 'much' a tipster gives you in return for a subscription; that is:
Does he provide an in depth analysis on every race (discuss every runner in terms of 'certainty', 'good chance', 'fair chance' 'no chance' as well as 'PA banker' or Quartet Floating Banker', etc) ?
or
Does he mention only some runners in all the races (leaving you to assume those not mentioned have 'no chance')?
or
Does he only provide a shortlist of numbers per race from which you can put together your own exotics?
or
Does he only provide suggested PA, PS and JP perms (and some suggested other bets) much like the Computaform tipsters do?
or
Does he provide a combination of all of the above?
Clearly the tipsters fee should relate to what he actually provides - and then being able to prove that what he suggests is actually returning a profit.
Overall I would agree with what Loopy is saying about the reasons for using a tipster - for me personally if I have to rely on others to show / tell me what my selections should be, I'd rather give up the game - for me the satisfaction of making the 'right' selections is very much part of the 'game' and if I make some money, it's almost a bonus

Exactly I am in this game for the satisfaction I get from picking a winner. If someone else picks the winner for me I get no where near as much satisfaction as picking it myself. (tu)

@Loopy n Shrek:
Double....
-D
No short cut:
1. Study yourself
2. Pay ....... whether Computaform, Sporting Post or Tipster that you know knows his/stuff!
Never follow 'tips'... from stables, jockeys, grooms.....!

-D I like that attitude and approach Frodo (though I confess I may be a little keener than you on making some money!
)
(and that is in no way a detriment to the discussion, I also agree with much of what has been said... and of course, anyone who wants to give me a cert for free, I'll take it
)
