It's high time the stipes started doing something about this.Meeting after meeting he does it.When he is beaten he simply stops riding. There are endless examples the last few weeks.

Seen this too. the horse "ANOTHER IDEA" is a great example. He couldnt get a run in that race admittedly, but stopped near the line and almost cost him the 3rd place. Anyway, it didn't happen, but it could've is the point!

If the horse is not good enough its not good enough, do you EXPECT THE JOCKEY TO CARRY THE ANIMAL. If only people would talk with there opinions and not there wallets, ranting and raving over shit that you cant change. Study form back a winner smile back a loser have another punt.

@titch. Read the stats! Marcus has a higher win percentage as well as a higher place percentage! Heard a prominent trainer once will watching Strydom during the last 250 meters say " there goes the parachute" if you feel that Strydom is the best cause he is leading the log it's an opinion.

A 4th place can be just important to a punter than a 1st place

Statistics lie,

To simplify things, let's use 4races with a stake payout for the winner been R50k each, and second place been R30k, 3rd place, R20k,4th place R10k

If in each of the races, let's assume the jockey runs 1st,2nd,,3rd, 4th....cumulative stake win by that jock would be R110k, but one win out of 4, would result in 25%win rate for the jock

Punter places a R1 win bet on each of the jocks mounts.....now let us also assume that each horse is 2/1, against to simplify things.

So if I placed R100 on the first at odds of 2/1, I get a net return of R288.O

I then continue to place R100 on each of the next 3 races, and they run 2nd,3rd and4th, that equates to R300 in losing bets vs the R288 I made in the 1st....net loss to me as a punter R12.

Net loss to jockey ......no loss R110kwin.....from which he gets both riding fee and percentage on stakes for winning or placing..

Punter ...out of pocket.

In my view stats of winning jocks/trainers really do not mean much....So much for statistics.

It is equivalent to saying, crime is down in this country....it is the analysis of stats that matter.
