Mavourneen all I was trying to say was that you single out soccer and not rugby or cricket. Rugby and cricket make the headlines all year. Racing deserves its day in the sun which unfortunately never happens.

Striker, the most BALANCED jockey most proabably in the world,i would say even better than Douglas Whyte,he knows when to pull the trigger or not and most importantly hes out of bullets,in Tobbits case it was the latter.smiling smiley

Hibs,
you are obviously one of the masses that makes up soccer fans worldwide. I am a Rugby man. Either way, each of us prefers our sport......
But, as far as making the headlines here, I could be wrong but I think that we must consider that it was difficult to arrange or promote at that time of night.
As for Striker, he DID make the FRONT PAGE over here, after JJ the Jetplane's win in HK.
So maybe Bushmanland should be having a go at the British Racing Operators, when, in your words on Frankel "na, not even sure he made the back pages "

Louis G I'm a sports fanatic through and through. Whether I watch soccer, rugby, tennis, cricket, cycling, boxing or athletics I do it passionately. Despite all nothing compares to my 1st love, horseracing .....win, lose or draw.
What pisses me off is when people make unqualified statements about soccer. Every sport in this country has its flaws so stop picking on soccer which is followed by the MASSES.
BTW my son plays schools rugby, which he chose after showing promise in soccer. Very few High schools in Jhb Northern suburbs play soccer.
I support the Bulls and will be at Fortress Loftus this coming weekend and then following one too, to watch the Bulls vs Crusaders.

I had the pleasure of meeting Stryker once, as I have mentioned in a previous post. At JHB
Absolute gentleman, and a true champion.
Stryker, if you do get to read this post, Old man Sam says hello.
He has shown me a photo, taken with you in it, many years ago, part of his collection of racing greats.
