Can anybody clarify please??
Reading the article in the Sporting Post that ALL 4yr old and older horses adjusted across the board............are PE based horses excluded ..............................OR have the increases not being implemented yet as the runners at Arlington t'morrow do not appear to have been adjusted ?

I hope they haven't used Dubai as the yardstick-there was suggestion that we do so well there cos our horses are underrated, but After Dubai horses can't confirm in the UK??
I look at the horses rated 124 in the UK and can't believe that Heavy Metal and Jackson are their equal!!!
(BTW thanks Ben for the info!!!)

Most Trainers think it is idiotic. Artificially raising the merit rating to make many the horses left here and not exported, look like Group 1 material. What a winter now rated about 4kgs off Black Caviar if I remember correctly. Come on, one of them was unbeaten in 25 runs including Uk and the other beaten in 11/26 runs in SA only. Does anyone on here really think that at these new weights he could have beaten her? The best comment allegedly to have been made when asked about this was " well we don't have to worry about that because he has gone to stud"! Hyperthetically what would happen if Mike has a good training year and also buys the cream of the crop to export for next year's overseas campaign? 40 top horses leave. Will we have to raise what is left by 12 merit rated points to get us in line with the rest of the world? :S

I am interested in who made this decision and who did they consult with-was there any notice that they were intending to do this or did it come out of the blue?

The raising of MR in August has been going on for a few years now if I recall correctly.
