Wow,somebody's started to think..................this had to be a way to get the bookmakers to the negotiating table .........just can't understand why it took so long.
Why a fee???............refuse it ,at any price ,to any premises that offer the OPEN BET..........on the premises or on-line!!!
In return, perhaps give them full commission as a TAB agent and free Tellytrack ----racing gets a better return and Bookies build in a guaranteed acceptable margin-win-win
Obviously We are not privy to all the figures but surely the principle can work better for everybody.

Wow, so let me get this straight.....The bookmakers will have to pay Multichoice a small fortune and now they have to pay Tellytrack (read Phumelela) another 3%?
Wow, the mind boggles.
I understand that people who make their living off the horse racing feed needs to pay but surely they should be charged one or the other?
I can't say I'm surprised though..............

Remember bookies usually make between 8-12% profit on racing before over heads,to to handover 3% gross to who ever is going to cripple a lot of your favourite joints..
paying for tv in the shops in uk shut most of the independents down..

I think Rob is right. P is flexing its muscles with regards to the open bet. They are putting pressure on an already pressured product in order to force their hand with the open bet.
You really have to admire some of the choices the people at Phumelela make. This one is a pure stroke of genius......pack of hyenas!!!!!

LOL. Thats the biggest load of bullshit I have ever read in my life. They are suggesting, indirectly, that all income generated through horse racing by bookmakers outlets are due solely to the patrons being able to watch the tellytrack race at the outlet. Forget those people who study form at home and place their bets at the outlets to have a strike on horses they find. I want the bookmakers to get their just desserts as much as the next guy, but 3% of gross turnover, not even nett, is a joke.

the amount of Racing Punters in the HW Boksburg and Keith Ho Benoni are so small that the guys could cancel the DSTV subs and show only soccer - The place is full of Soccer punters and I'm sure the big Racing Punters stay at home and watch so no big deal to them -
