Willie Uys used to tell us that the draw means nothing. If you want to win and the horse is good enough, he/she will win for you.

Still learning the ownership game and sure will find this all out in time, but what is the issue (beside cost) of running the horse? I understand completely that draw plays a huge factor but it is not the deciding factor. A good horse, with decent jock and right tactics in my opinion from any draw can earn.

Average horses need to compete not giving any advantage to other average horses ,that's my opinion...

Fair enough, i know they do... i'm asking why for my own knowledge. If its a cost thing udnerstandable, but if not why not let the horse run and give it a chance.

I spent 2 weeks on the farm with Willie and Marcelle when she first took out her license and drove in the float with willie to 2 meetings where most of the trip was taken up by how far Bambilino would win, when i pointed out the draw he told me the same thing as he told you...needless to say they had to send out a search party after the race and the drive home was a bit strained....the next week he rode a horse that belonged to Grant paddock (Highland Star??) i think it was again from a rubbish draw and told me with conviction that he would put my bad draw phobia to rest forever with this one..that one did at least run 2nd albeit well beaten ...so to answer your question, from my personal experience I think his view sux

Draws and going plays a big part if a horse is destined for stud, u want
A good record, thats why frankel never ran in the arc, if he got beat in
The soft his stud value would dropped

Line 16 identical cars up on the 1200m track on the Polly or Greyville and see how many win from the wide, and how many come home missing a bumper

I asked Herman Brown senior for advice on punting one day and he said ' son never back a horse drawn more than 7 over 1400 meters and beyond'

If u line up 16 identical cars u need 16 equal drivers, impossible,
Thats why I believe the better jocks make a difference

A couple of years ago there was a glitch with draws in Cape Town. Throughout the race card the trainers that had couplings in the race were drawn next to each other, even if they had 3 or 4 runners in the race. They ended up re doing the draws.
