He responded on Thursday after returning from holiday.
“However, if they feel that there are no benefits I will refund their membership fees as we do not want unhappy members,” he said.

jislaaik at least spell the guys name right and read the whole story not just take a quote.. WAINSTEIN
what club do you join for R1000 a year and get entrance to facilities like these racecourses
if you join a golf club you still pay extra to play
what club will offer your fees back
wainstein says in the article that the room was booked for sponsors long before RA took over in cape
Be fair..

For me, the point is not whether the facility was rented to another body - that is acceptable, but then to still charge R600 a head (normally I think around R135 a head :S) in the back-up' facility is a money-making racket imo - also I still fail to see what the R1140 buys one ?

Surely offering the subs back for any unhappy customer is a good gesture?? Saying something like "if you are not happy then dont pay your subs next season" would be out of line but offering to refund this seasons payments cant be looked upon as an arrogant attitude?

100% Titch Try get your membership back from any other club .
Frodo @R135 a meal on a feature day is an embaressment to any Sponsor and what do you think your meal would be.
Racing is trying to uplift it's status and image around the world. Queens Plate day now aligned with Goodwood....
Even in PE the RA room is given up for our 2 "big"days which was R350 per head and was worth every penny, by the way that is for a Grade 3 race day ...

I was not suggesting it should be R135 ((R300 not unrealistic imo - and anyway I did not know the RA was a sponsor on the day) - why would the R350 in PE be 'worth every penny - did they serve crayfish or lobster :S' ' - I am also not sure about what is included in the R600 - but the point remains that if I join an organization I do so because I expect some benefits by joining - for me there does not seem to be any benefit in being offered a 'seat' at R600 per person - but I have never been accused of being a 'big spender'; also you seem to be saying the fact that the QP is now aligned with Goodwood, it should automatically follow that we should pay more to attend :S
In summary, it is of course up to the individual to decide whether forking out R1135 per year (and this will probably go up this year :S) to join the RA, is worth it considering the 'benefits' - for me personally it definitely is not - I'd rather donate the R1135 to the HCU's and hope the money will do so some good

RA not a sponsor on today.
L'Ormarins is the sponsor and had organized to have that room for the day before the RA was involved in CT
You just have to work out the benefit of the bonus races.... in PE alone between Jan and July there are 20 @20k

the point is that ....surely...as a RA member...you get some benefits...
doesn't matter who the sponsor is.... they are entertained, but not in control of proceedings....
