Ok, Frodo, so what do you want the Owners guests to have for Parade Ring entry ? Please give us your alternative solution, seeing as the current arrangement is a problem for you.
And, for your info, the non RA/Gold Circle/Kenilworth Racing members who are Owners can arrange their badges for FREE through Colin Hall at NHRA. They have been out for about 10 months already.

The RA is the biggest shareholder of Phum. The more money Phum makes the more dividends are paid to the RA who then re-distribute as stakes. Not sure why the RA needs to act as a club collecting piddling membership subs.

I'm not sure why you seem to be having a go at me - let me respond on the various points that you directed at me:
1. Concerned Owners - I have long since (like 'racing and the RA') let this one go (although several questions remain unanswered) - the only (valid) question that Rob asked was whether there has been an improvement since Mr Wainstein has taken over the reigns at the RA; in your opinion the fact that there are waiting lists for stables countrywide, means that there has been improvement; personally I would not agree but surely I am allowed to hold my own opinion (as you say yourself, there are fewer registered owners)
2. Entry to the parade ring
I was also under the impression that entry is controlled by the operators and the NHA - I only asked the question about the RA involvement because Press was saying that 'RA Security' kept him out - perhaps he was mistaken about who actually kept him out? For the record I agree that there should be some kind of dress code, etc.
As to the issue of how access should be controlled - to be honest I have not given that much thought - I am aware that badges have been issued to non-RA members - I was merely making an observation that it could be quite a schlep to get badges for one's guests on the day - and I am still unsure how it would work in practice; so I have a 'permanent badge', on raceday I go to the 'info-kiosk' (if I can find it) and say 'I have 4 guests that I would like take with me into the parade ring' - then what - do they give me 4 'guest badges', or 4 slips of paper that I can present to the parade ring 'gatekeepers' ?
I also would just like to comment again on the issue of entry to the big 3 race days of the year - you say owners with runners on the day get free entry - does the RA provide these owners with free entry? If so, great (tu), but as per Mr H's suggestion, if the RA is serious about 'growing their membership', one of the ways to do that is to also provide / arrange 'discounted' entry fees to RA members
I do no have anything against the RA as such, and I will consider joining them again if I can find some value in it (as another example maybe they could offer members subsidized meals on race days - seeing that these members already contribute to the RA already via the noms and acceptance fees) ; at the moment though I am not sure that they are even relevant - what would happen to 'racing' tomorow if the RA was disbanded today?

Louis, clearly ,your recollection of the "Concerned Owners" issue is blatantly selective...........:S.
When the "drivers" were interviewed by Robin Bruss on Tellytrack ,the representatives were Larry Wainstein, Joe Soma and Brett Maselle
So who are these "Concerned owners" who have disappeared?? .............the group dissolved and only Brett has disappeared from the RA ..........because he refused the 30 pieces of silver to cross the floor!

Frodo
Yip, I think that I misinterpreted your post. Apology !
Any Owner who wants a badge, simply calls Colin Hall at NHRA, as it is a NHRA issue.
All an Owner does is ask his Trainer to arrange guest badges and it is done. Trainer will know where to go. These are in ticket form.
I agree about a discounted rate for RA members on the big 3 and will follow it up and revert. However, I do think that it is minimalistic and the saving will probably be R50 per meeting..
Meals are already subsidised by RA at Elevation room. Honestly, I cannot think of any eatery that can match the fare for so little money. On this one, I would think that it may be better to look at the rest of the year and turn a blind eye to the 3 big meetings.

No problem and thanks for the feedback in terms of the 'guest badges' (now maybe you can also assist in actually getting our filly into a race without being eliminated
)
In principle though what I am trying to suggest is that if the RA wants to grow their membership, they need to provide members with more 'bang for your buck'; and I am not a marketing person, but there must be ways and means to go about it

Re: Re: Weinsteens attitude towards RA Members>:D

So, I don't know who is wearing the blinkers here....
Larry is a concerned Owner, gets onto RA board and makes many changes, which is what the concerned Owners wanted. I have been a RA member for many years and it was only a shadow of what it is now, in the years before the concerned Owners. So, maybe my "blinkers" are the problem...... or maybe there are only a handful of REAL OWNERS (people who currently own horses in racing) out there who are unhappy and/or negative and the rest are happy.
I see interviews from Owners every day. They are happy and not complaining about RA. The Queens Plate was an absolute celebration, all Owners on the day were over the moon. The only complaint at present is about handicapping (NHRA) and programming (Operators).
I may be blinkered, but the facts reveal that the 4 or 5 extremely unhappy ABC forumites who only post negatives, repetitively, day in and day out,may be in need of Pacifiers....
