do you think the gambling board and government care. as long as they get their share of taxes from betting they can be persuaded that more will come from betting on a stronger center. money talks and legislation can be changed easily
don't think that is all cut and dried that kmb has to stay open

RS. Obviously not a SA but I think Kimberley has its place, if for no other reason than it is important that all areas are represented in racing. Start closing racing off in places and I think income will start dropping. However poor the racing may be, no disrespect intended, people do identify more with the sport if there is some local interest, imo.

But, why is it that the track there has such a poor reputation? Is there no money to make it a more inviting place to visit, why is it seemingly so poorly known that a track even exists? Does anyone attend on a Monday afternoon? Can't it be advertised in the town at all? Can't the powers that be there do more to make it a more attractive proposition? Again no disrespect, but Kim is hardly bubbling over with things to do and, as a tourist, it takes a couple of days absolute max, including the "battlefields". It seems to me there is potential there which is not being tapped... or is it just assumed/experience has shown there would be little or no interest?

true - as shown by the vaal sand a bttler on grass does not always shine on sand and the low MR grass horses only have PE as an option which is becoming stronger day by day

If memory serves me rite bloem was not closed at the xpense of kimb but it was a toss up between bloem and the vaal as the operater were only allowed 1 centre in the free state asper the gambling board

It is 100% FACT.. there was an uproar when the talk of Vaal closing v Bloem was circulating just before Bloem was closed..there was never any question about Bloem vs Kim
