So you think its the painted lines that does it.............you kidding right .............forced to be there or choosing to be there doesn't change the maths!

(You are right a wide slingshot can help ,but that only works when improving on a camber as far as I know???)

There is some fellow in the states that has some laser device that measures exactly how far each horse runs in a race.
I was amazed how much it differs and the effect of .......a)running wide and ..b)being taken off a straight course, even in the straight.

maybe i am missing something in the races i watch .....no doubt being 5 wide is not ideal....but somehow when i watch the horse i backed coming around the turn 5 wide and about to strike the front early and catching the ones that tried to get a good pozzi early in the race ...gives me more hope than always being the jock who knows only 1 style of sit and wait and hope for luck.....somehow in england and states i am never concerned at any time if my horse is 3 or 4 wide but travelling

i said it earlier...our jockeys are too dependant on the false rail...when there is no false rail ...its imperitive that u be 3 .4.5 wide and within striking turning for home especially in bigger fields

My comment is only for the P/e poly track where IMO the draw has a huge roll to play in the results of races ...

len..without trying to overcook the turkey...regarding pe....we have seen how rough the racing is...we have to ask ourselves,if these rough rides could be avoided if the jocks are a little more enterprising and not all stereo typed...all looking to follow the same instructions given in the ring....i have stood in parade rings and heard 5 trainers in 1 race all saying be in the box seat and as u turn for home let him go...can all 5 jocks in the same race be in the box seat?...i am gonna divert just a moment and throw a question to the clan...trainers included....are south african jockeys fearful of trainers..of getting the boot if instructions r not followed.....so scared they are that they have no plan B...in a race

Sometimes punters can ride the perfect race in their mind regarding a horse they backed, the jockey on top however has split seconds to make a decision and move to plan b or c but in the end he is the one judged and either gets accolades or jeers...

Going even 3wide...has HUGE effects on a horse...around a turn on any track in SA...it especially counts the last 100m....we are talking abt average horses now...which is the majority

Many pundits blame the false rails for the many false run races we have.
