coming back to what englander says about coming wide. it is the tightness of the bend in PE, which favours the inside draws, PE is very similar to Wolverhampton, with tight turns and short run in, although Wolverhampton has a 5 furlong straight and a spur for the 7 furlong start. having been to Wolverhamton, most horses drawn above 6, have no chance, Southwell is a fibre sand track and has a 600m run in, Lingfield has 2 turns before coming into a short run in, so horses sitting wide or off the pace, have a furlong between the two bends, to try and better their position, and again there is a spur for the 5 furlong start and you jump into the 1st of the 2 bends before the home straight, you have to be drawn low or you have no chance. Kempton Park is probably the fairest of the polytracks in the UK, there are 2 turns off the back straight into the home straight depending which distance you are running determines which turn is used to come into straight and both have decent long run in's, so a horse sitting off the pace, can make up the ground to win the race. No matter what course you are running on, anywhere in the world, drawn on the inside is always a advantage for horses going round the turn, any horse drawn wider than the inside horse, has to go faster and further if he wants to stay level to the inside horse entering the home straight, the tighter the turn the faster he has to go to maintain his position, that is why a horse with no form and if drawn well will always have an advantage and a fair chance of winning a race or earning a cheque.
