Good luck to him at 13 million I would be a seller too. Horses belong to owners and trainers are paid to train them. I agree that it is hard on Brett, but as the guys were saying yesterday in the rooms, he is sure to have received a substantial commission in the sale.

Why would he neccesarily get a commission?

The normal commission on the sale of a horse is 10% to the trainer gor work done and loss of future earnings.

That is the figure I was told he would get, to be honest he is the guy who gave the horse the value so its the least he should receive. There are some nasty rumours going around about a well known bloodstock agent but I will be sued if I repeat them.

On the other side of the same coin -should a trainer return 10% for any losses incurred to the owner because of the trainer's professional recommendation of the horse?

You'd have to find 360 mares with two unproven sons of Dynasty on the same farm and one still to see his first crop under the same management umbrella not far away.

Having analysed Jackson's pedigree extensively he will in my mind make the grade. His female line is undoubtedly the strongest one of the three and comes from a stallion producing dynasty of No Class.

Futura with 5 lines of Dalmary in total and a strong attractor of Mixed Marriage in Western Winter in his female line is the stallion I'd like to stand most. I'd certainly be throwing Caesour, Goldmark and virtually any Kingmambo line mare I could find at him. His brilliance is Dalmary but this said his pedigree does contain a lot of similarities to Jackson being by Dynasty over a line of Gone West and Vice Regent.

Legislate with three lines of Dalmary over Danehill has his attraction too.

To prove each stallion is a serious task at hand and there is in my view a lot of eggs in one basket if they indeed go to Drakenstein.

I've assisted in selecting mares for Jackson and I'm pretty keen to see his female line mares sent to him in Strike Smartly, Surging River, Sail from Seattle and if the chance ever arises a Curlin mare.

If the Rumours that abound are true, I am truly saddened. I analysed his pedigree as a yearling and watched his career blossom under Brett a master of his trade and a perfect gentleman.
