Should carryovers go back to the centre...
10 years 2 months ago
In which they came from ?
Had a message from a guy asking what happens to the 1.35m worth of carryovers that left Flamingo Park ?
So unable to answer him I asked Vee Moodley
He said
Hi Bob,happy Easter.
Half of that carry over mentioned was already utilized on Classic Day last week. The remainder is now being allocated to Champions Day on the 25 April......if there are more carryovers and I have my anticipated amount for the 25 Apr meeting, then I allocate/split where necessary.
This has been the practice now for many many years or worstcase since I have joined PGL.
Thank you

I'm not sure if there are big groups of punters that just punt in Kimberley ? ( doubt it ) but if so do you reckon the carryovers should be added the Kimberley pools ?

IMO...money should all carryover to the same centre...this moving of funds is not exactly easily transparent...
why did they close down other courses because they were not profitable...but they now "subsidise" other centres...?

The money should stay at the same center
Once you move it you're stealing/robbing the punters that punted there

Only if it can be proven that over 50% of the pool in question originates from punters in that geographical area, should their grievances have any substance to it.
Historically the provinces that struggled to attract their own pools to keep them afloat were the East,West and North Cape.

Maybe strip 10% out for big race days or a mega monthly pool but the balance should all remain at the centre and perhaps be allowed to accumulate up to a minimum pool of say R2m. Where the punter puts his bet on is of no relevance. If he is supporting Kimberley this is all that matters.

Carry over utilization is one area where the operator deserves to be congratulated on handling it exceptionally well.
They are clearly adding money to the correct events where it will have maximum impact and where most punters will get a second bite at the cake.
Not sure it they cross subsidise between products? Does anyone know whether P6 carryovers which is the main source also get used to bolster other products like the last race quartet carry over?
But again, I believe that the pot is well utilised and requires no change in how it is handled by the operator.
Well done Vee and team.

If a centre like kimberley has a 500k carryover p6 then it must stay at that centre. The following week with the carryover they can have a pool total of 1.5m. Im sure with corect marketing of a pool of that size would create more interest in that meeting in the town.Instead the carryover goes to jhb and at the end of the day they point fingers at the size of the pools in kim. Carryovers must stay at the same centre and not how they are presently split up for bait, full amount to the following meeting.

I would like to see a % of all carryovers in PE and Kim staying in those centers - Let's say 30% added to the last/first meeting of the month - I especially like the idea of the Friday meeting as a big pool at month end will be great for turnovers. Kim also deserves that as punters that do not play on weekends(there are many that don't for family/religious reasons) can buy into a big pool once a month. I agree with consolidating carryovers to big Saturday meetings but some of the cash should go to increase turnover at the lesser venues so that a continuity of betting takes place.

So i am "in the know?"
We are all entitled to our views, and i am certainly not alone with this view
Now Bob,Lsu and many others have their views, even patting Vee on his back
I say it's bullshit
They put on the show, make changes left right and centre and us mugs must just grin and bear it!
What the fuck gives them the idea that only they know whats good for racing and betting?
All they do is screw us
Imagine,our money[shit! not ours anymore!]
They just worry about turnover, which is chasing punters away
