.....early days Mr H.....NHRA still on a learning curve....they are trapped in their own red tape
.....P L Smith could have been on the goetis himself.....finding substances in the stable and on ones person that could also be for human consumption is not as easy to get around.... years ago they warned off a trainer for using a non prescription medication which showed up as an opiate on their testing equipment.....this was hushed up and may have been settled out of court.....they are inexepreienced in setting protocols....they have to start at revising some of their long in the tooth rules.....

9 years 8 months ago - 9 years 8 months agoThen give him the max and appropriate sentence for all those transgressions and let him appeal and let that go to court if it must but to rely on ifs and maybes does not work for me. I am on a few prescription drugs but you won't find them in my office but rather in my bathroom at home as per the norm. Apply the guidelines properly or why do you have them in the first place? The best course of action would be to get a strong team of legal minds to construct proper rules and though it would cost big to start with the legal costs saved and the image it would project would be worth it long-term.Muhtiman wrote: .....early days Mr H.....NHRA still on a learning curve....they are trapped in their own red tape

I would also amend the guidelines with an automatic suspension of the animal(retrospective) according to the severity of the offense. This is purely punative. If a horse has been found with class 1 drug then year suspended from all racing activity including training.(i do believe this has been done recently but there is no conformation on the NHRA site as far as I can tell) As you go down the list the suspension time drops - Owners then feel the bite and will support these trainers at their own risk. This might seem extreme but what action do you take against a horse that maybe is running on roids or enhancers or pain suppressors and does not WIN or place in a race so no stakes money can be returned yet it comes back positive? The horse may only win or place later when clean but goes unpunished and if the owner wants to take it to a new trainer he can without any regard to the punter and integrity of the wager.

.....no more short cuts in getting weight off and muscle cutting....no more instant bulk building and muscle gain....just plain old good feed and more exercise.....and longer time to prep horses....now let the hard workers start getting the spoils....
